 Este certamen se ha llevado acabo el pasado (South Pacific Daily Reports) fin de semana en Epsom, Nueva Zelanda (NZAA). La ganadora de la categoría solista fue Jessica Chen, procedente de Auckland .  Del 15 al 19 de Julio, la AAA Competition será celebrará en el Holiday Inn Suites en la Universidad de Menphis, Tennessee.La presidenta del festival Mary Tokarski, presentará el festival, concurso, los diversos conciertos, talleres, la Festival orquestra, un actuación en el Graceland y mucho más . De entre todos los artistas invitados destaca Tony Lovello, Jone Natoli (ganador del reciente Roland V competition en los Angeles), Randy Martin (director de la Martin School en Fullerton, California) dirigiendo la AAA Festival Orchestra y Frank Busso que será el responsable de dirigir la actuación en el Graceland. Durante la tarde del jueves se podrá disfrutar de los Riders in the Sky, incluyendo al acordeonista Joey Miskulin, el cual ha estado tocando música country durante más de 30 años. El reputado Jeff Lisenby Ensemble actuará durante la tarde del viernes 17 de Julio. Nuevas categorías serán incluídas en los eventos para este año: AAA Digiatal/Electronic International Competition y la categoría solista dedicada a Elvis Presley. Por otra parte, se celebrará una competición internacional para acordeón piano con premios financiados por Carmen Carrozza Scholarship Fund y Maddalena Belfiore (competición de música de entertainment para acordeonistas femeninas). Esta competición esta esponsorizada por la familia Mauro Greco y el apoyo económico de la AAA. Este año es también el comienzo para la categoría en composición Elsie M. Bennett.  La compañía editorial alemana Karthause Schmülling ha desarrollado una importante seria de libros para acordeonistas titulada “”Accordeon Focus”. Este es un libro-cd que ilustra solistas y ensembles de acordeón.La primera edición esta dedicada a Frank Marocco, quien es uno de los más importantes acordeonistas de Jazz del mundo y el acordeonista de sesión más reconocido en Hollywood. Frank Marocco ha participado en películas legendarias como el Dr. Zhivago o Ratatouille, acompañando también durante su dilatada carrera a artistas como Liza Minnelli, Luciano Pavarotti y Frank Sinatra. En los tres Cds, Frank Marocco muestra su frescura, espontaneidad y gran calidad como interprete. |

| The University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC) Community Accordion Orchestra under the direction of Joan Cochran Sommers presented a spectacular 48th Annual Spring Concert in Kansas City on May 31st. Performing a variety of works, the concert program included: Tambourin from Fêtes d’Hébé by Rameau/Motti, Film Noir: City at Night by famed Los Angeles composer Leonard Stack, Serenade, (Andante Cantabile) Op. 39 by Alexander Comitas, Keniade (I. On the Safari with Herbert, II. Love Play of the Hippos, III. Jumping Gazelles and IV. Meeting of the Maassai Warriors) by Fritz Dobler, Gem of the Kaipara by Gary Daverne with Kevin Friedrich as Accordion Soloist, Suite from Video Games Live (featuring music from “Halo Suite”, Coronation & Baba Yetu from Civilization IV, Bounty Hunter Theme from Advent Rising Suite and Kingdom Hearts”, arranged by Joan Cochran Sommers, with the Video Presentation by UMKC Professor Caitlin Horsmon, Faust Walzer by Gounod and Brasilia Potpouri, both arranged by Willi Munch. The 16 member group received a well deserved standing ovation for their concert from the large audience in attendance. The members of the UMKC Accordion Orchestra for this years concert were Betty Jo Simon, Ron Barrow, Joyce Davis, Kevin Friedrich, Don Lipovac, Christine Jarquio, Bob Eichkorn, Miceky Eichkorn, Karen Boocock, Samantha Jarquio, Amy Hatfield, Cathy Sue Weiss, Mary Ann Covone, Laura Lee Crandall, Nick Baker and Brian Steever.  Italian accordionist Mario D'Amario has released his first CD, titled ‘Carnevale’, contains most of the program performed in recent international competitions and live recordings with a group and orchestra. The accordion used is made by Ballone Burini, whose instruments are now represented by Mario D'Amario.Mario D'Amario is the winner of numerous top flight competitions, including those of the CIA, CMA, Castelfidardo and Ikaalinen.?  The Senior Follies production of ‘On The Road Again’, is to be performed at the East County Performing Arts Center, 210 E. Main Street, El Cajon, CA 92020. Performances are on June 19th, 20th, 25th, 26th and 27th at 7pm, and June 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th at 2pm. The five-member San Diego accordion group, The Polka Dots, are playing in all performances. |

 The 23rd annual Clacton Summer Accordion Week takes place at St James Church, Clacton on Sea, Essex, from August 10th to 14th.
