80 miembros de la ATG forman una orquesta de festival - EE.UU.by Kevin Friedrich |

 La Orquesta del Festival en la reunión anual del Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG) es siempre un punto culminante de la convención. Este año, durante la celebración de su 80º Festival, el ATG presentó una espectacular orquesta de acordeones de 80 piezas bajo la batuta de la mundialmente conocida directora Joan Cochran Sommers.De forma similar al funcionamiento de las orquestas sinfónicas, cada músico recibió la música con antelación para preparar el concierto y se celebraron tres ensayos en el festival para formar la orquesta y añadir los timbales y la percusión. El maestro de concierto de la orquesta fue Kevin Friedrich, antiguo presidente de la ATG y actual embajador de la Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) y, junto con músicos de lugares tan lejanos como Italia (presidente de la CIA - Mirco Patarini), Austria (primer vicepresidente de la Harmonika Verband Österreichs - HVÖ - Dr. Herbert Scheibenreif,) y de todos los Estados Unidos y Canadá, el magnífico concierto obtuvo elogios y una gran ovación del público, muchos de los cuales nunca habían escuchado una orquesta de acordeones. El programa de la actuación de 2022, celebrada en el moderno Armerding Concert Hall del Wheaton College de Chicago, incluía Temas de Lawrence de Arabia de Maurice Jarre (arr. Palmer & Hughes), Marcha Paragon del fundador y presidente emérito del ATG Anthony Galla-Rini, Finlandia, Op. 26. No. 7 de Jean Sibelius (arr. Galla-Rini), Epílogo de The Comedians, Op. 26 de Dmitri Kabalevsky (arr. Galla-Rini), The Lord of the Dance de Roman Padraig Hardiman (arr. H. G. Kölz) y Medley de The Sound of Music de Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein (arr. Willard A. Palmer). La directora Joan Cochran Sommers ha sido tres veces expresidenta del Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG). Después de servir muchos años como vicepresidenta del Comité Ejecutivo y 12 años como presidenta del Comité de Música de la Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA), en honor a sus muchas décadas de servicio, Joan fue premiada como miembro honorario vitalicio de la CIA al retirarse de su cargo. Se ganó el derecho a representar a los Estados Unidos en la Coupe Mondiale tanto en 1955 como en 1956, lo que sin duda desarrolló su interés por las actividades mundiales del acordeón. Desde entonces, Joan ha sido galardonada en numerosas ocasiones por organizaciones nacionales e internacionales de acordeón, así como por otras organizaciones musicales, por su constante dedicación y contribución al campo de la música. A lo largo de muchas décadas, enseñó e inspiró a un incontable número de estudiantes de todo Estados Unidos y del extranjero para que alcanzaran la excelencia musical mientras estudiaban para obtener su licenciatura, su máster y su doctorado en Interpretación del Acordeón. Al jubilarse de la UMKC como profesora a tiempo completo y vicedecana del Conservatorio de Música, Joan Cochran Sommers recibió el estatus de profesora emérita.   Los 10º Encuentros anuales de verano de Trebon tendrán lugar en Trebon (República Checa) del 16 al 20 de agosto de 2022 e incluirán conciertos de acordeón y seminarios de música.Los conciertos de acordeón correrán a cargo de Ladislav Horák (foto de arriba a la derecha) y Markéta Laštovicková (foto de arriba a la izquierda), y Martin Kot. Ladislav Horák y Markéta Laštovicková impartirán un seminario en la Escuela Primaria de Arte de Trebon.  Nello Gabrielloni, long time owner of Excelsior CEMEX passed away last week. After he sold Excelsior to Pigini, he started a company called Agenzia Italia Fisarmoniche di Martina Gabrielloni, with his daughter Martina.In the early 1900s Nello Gabrielloni’s grandfather Nazareno Sampaolesi, was building "harmonic reeds" in Castelfidardo which he then sent to the United States to the first Italian accordion manufacturers. Then his father, Erminio Gabrielloni, together with his brother Adalberto, continued this family tradition of building "harmonic reeds", supported by the love of the accordion, with which they enjoyed playing. Subsequently, Nello Gabrielloni decided to continue the tradition, dedicating over 40 years of his life to the accordion and the world that revolves around it. Years in which he accumulated experiences in Castelfidardo at the Excelsior Accordion Company, and all over the world in close contact with the various levels of production, trade, repair of the instruments and with accordionists of all musical genres. This included his brother in law Dr. Valentino Lorenzetti, well-known accordionist and concert artist. | The accordion has long had a reputation as an instrument for folk music and of street musicians. Its technical and cultural evolution can be neatly traced from its very invention in 1829 by Cyrill Demian in his apartment on Vienna‘s Mariahilfer Strasse, No. 43, to this day. The accordionist Bogdan Laketic, who lives in Vienna, dedicates his debut album „Made in Vienna“ to his city, choosing works by composers who are also directly connected with Vienna. Thus, the Sonatas for Piano in A flat major, Hob. XVI:46 and in E minor, Hob. XVI:34 by Joseph Haydn, the Six little Piano Pieces Op. 19 by Arnold Schönberg and the Soirées de Vienne, S 427 No. 6 by Franz Liszt are interpreted in his own arrangements. Also based in Vienna is the Belgian composer Dirk D'Ase, who in 2011 composed Figuren/Induktionen, in which the diversity of the accordion's sound once again comes into play. |

| Daniele Falasca will present his 10th album “Triade” at the Church of the Ss. Annunziata in Montepagano, Abruzzi, Italy on August 8th, 2022 at 9.30pm in conjunction with the Abbazie Jazz Festival. Daniele will perform with his quartet which includes Massimo Moriconi (bass), Glauco Di Sabatino (drums) and Massimiliano Caporale (piano). “Triade is the musical tribute in a jazz key that the composer Daniele Falasca gives to his family……In this album, in fact, Falasca proposes a jazz language, with a more refined harmony, the sense of swing is undoubtedly more evident and the improvisations are affected by the groove that the rhythm section supports seamlessly. The interplay is overwhelming and enhances all the improvisational characteristics of the band members”. |
