Como en un final de cuento, Grayson Masefield ganó enfrente de su entusiasta público, haciendo así muy emocionante el desenlace de la 2009 Coupe Mondiale. Un gran volumen de audiencia , con más de 1000 personas en algunas noches, apoyó a Grayson durante la competición. Masefiel consiguió el primer puesto en las categorías Coupe Mondial y Virtuoso Entertainment. Es la primera vez que un concursante gana en la misma edición estas dos categorías.
Los artículos diarios referentes a la Coupe Mondiale pueden ser consultados en la página web del concurso, teniendo la posibilidad de descargarse los resultados de cada candidato. Además, puede ser descargado el programa completo de esta edición. Hay dos formatos disponibles: Lower Resolution (15MB) y otro en High Resolution (88MB) para obtener un mejor acabado de edición. La descarga de este programa es gratuita desde la web de la Coupe Mondiale. |

 Desde la página web de la Coupe Mondiale pueden ser descargados todos los videos relativos a esta edición de certamen. Todas las actuaciones de los concursantes están disponibles por solo 55 Euros. Esta idea es muy interesante para profesores y estudiantes que deseen aprender sobre la interpretación de los participantes, su repertorio y en general cual es el punto de mira artístico del concurso. Ahora es posible disfrutar de la 2009 Coupe Mondiale de una manera cómoda y sencilla!

Primera Edición del Festival Internacional “Peppino Principe”, Monte Sant´Angelo-Italiaby Holda Paoletti-Kampl

El pasado 16 y 17 de Agosto, el festival dedicado a la figura del gran Peppino Principe fue celebrado en Monte Sant´Agelo (Foggia). El festival mantuvo dos intensos días de música en el lugar de nacimiento del Príncipe del Acordeón.
En la noche inaugural, los acordeonistas Danto Santoianni y Danilo di Paolonicola , y los jóvenes Andrea di Giacomo y Ande Tini, actuaron en el escenario del Monte Sant´Angelo.
El 17 de Agosto, el famoso acordeonista de jazz Renzo Ruggieri rindió los debidos honores al Maestro. En el escenario, Adriano Ranieri interpretó música clásica y el virtuoso Antonio Spaccarotella y Savatore Cauteruccio actuaron world music a dúo.
El festival finalizó con el grupo Peppino Principe, llevándose del público asistente calurosas ovaciones, especialmente cuando concluyeron la noche a dúo junto a Renzo Ruggieri, quien es para muchos su predecesor.

Próximas Actuaciones del Dr. William Schimmel, New York- EEUUby Rob Howard

 Los días 8, 9 y 11 de Septiembre, el Dr. Schimmel actuará con la New York Philarmonic en un concierto que incluirá al tenor Andrea Bocelli en el Carnegie Hall.
El 9 de septiembre, interpretará su trabajo “Club Parusia”, en el Union Theological Seminary en Nueva York. Esta obra ha sido comisionada por la Presbyterian Biennial, siendo estrenada en Tucson, Arizona. La pieza fue concebida en colaboración con el reverendo Robert Brashear.
Dr. Schimel actuará con el Argento Ensemble, dirigido por Michel Galante el 12 de Septiembre en el estreno de “Xenos”, obra compuesta por el compositor Austriaco Beat Furrer, quien también actúa como narrador. La performance podrá ser vista en el Le Poisson Rouge (antiguo Village Gate), lugar devoto de nuevas músicas.
El 14 de Septiembre y los siguiente cinco jueves consecutivos a la fecha, Dr. Schimmel actuará con el cantante Gay Marshall interpretando música de Edith Piaf en el Metropolitan Room, uno de los más sofisticados clubs de Manhattan.
Para finalizar, el día 20 de Septiembre, el Dr. Schimmel estrenará su nueva obra “Let´s Celebrate” en el New York´s Tavern on the Green, realizando un tributo a Faithe Deffner, quien será honorada con el premio “A Life Achievement Award” que otorga la American Accordionists' Association.

Charles Magnante Quartet DVD, Stockport - UKby Rob Howard

 Charles Magnante (1905-86), born in New York, was for decades one of the world’s most admired accordionists, and his exceptional artistry did much to raise the image of the accordion in the USA and overseas. His recordings, compositions and arrangements are still held in high regard for their unrivalled quality. Magnante performed both as a soloist and as leader of his own quartet.
A unique DVD is now available, featuring 5 numbers played by the Charles Magnante Quartet. The pieces performed are ‘Waltz a la Accordion’ (a swing arrangement by Magnante of Chopin’s ‘Minute Waltz’), ‘Tantalizin’ (Magnante), ‘Andalucia’ (‘The Breeze & I’, by Ernesto Lecuona), ‘Sweet Sue’ (Harris/Young), and ‘Dance of the Spanish Onion’ (David Rose).
These films were made in 1946, and are known as ‘soundies’ (an early version of the music video). The line up is Charles Magnante – accordion, George Wright on electronic organ and piano, Jack Smith on electric guitar, and Eugene Ettore on string bass. George Wright went on to become one of America’s foremost theatre organists, Jack Smith was a leading jazz guitarist and vocalist, and Eugene Ettore found fame as an accordionist, composer and arranger.

 The 3rd annual Tejano Conjunto Festival, featuring some of the best talent in tejano accordion music, takers place in Sacramento, California, on September 6th, 1pm, at Cesar Chavez Plaza. Performers at this year's festival include Hometown Boys, Jay Perez, Bob Gallarza, and more.
Tejano/Conjunto music has it’s roots deep in the Rio Grande Valley where it began many years back and has continued to grow in popularity. It sings to the Mexican American working class who made this music popular. The music now has a category of it’s own in the Grammy awards, and Tejano Conjunto music has spread throughout the USA. |

 The 14th Sebastopol Cajun/Zydeco Festival, orgfanised by the Rotary Club of Sebastopol Sunrise, takes place on September 12th, 10am until 7pm, at Ives Park, 7400 Willow St, Sebastopol, CA. This annual festival offers live music, Cajun food, and dancing under the redwoods.
Performers this year include CJ Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band, Jeffery Broussard and the Creole Cowboys, Andre Thierry & Zydeco Magic, Theo and the Zydeco Patrol, and more.

A concert styled “The Still Voice Speaks Within” takes place on September 13th, 3.30pm, at Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Square, London. This concert is part of the Chelsea Schubert Festival.
“The Still Voice Speaks Within” is a journey celebrating the music and art from Purcell to Piazzolla, and interwoven with Schubert melodies.
The performers are Phuong Nguyen (accordion), Satoko Fukuda (violin), Dario Martin (piano), Miho Sanou (piano), Alexander Baker (baritone), and Rosie Mayhew (scenic artist)

Terem Quartet Concert, Vilnius – Lithuaniaby Rob Howard

 The Terem Quartet perform in concerts at the Vilnius Congress Concert Hall, Vilnius, on September 18th and 19th, 7pm. The program includes arrangements of compositions by Francis Poulenc, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Eugeny Petrov, Juri Falik, Pedro Datto, Astor Piazzolla and other composers.
The members of the Terem Quartet are Andrey Konstantinov - soprano domra, Mikhail Dziudze - bass balalaika, Aleksey Barchtchev - alto domra, and Andrey Smirnov - bayan accordion. The conductor is Gintaras Rinkevicius. |
