 ¿Eres aspirante a compositor? ¡Piensa sobre componer una obra para acordeón acústico a solo en el estilo de tu elección!La Asociación Americana de Acordeonistas (AAA) patrocina nuevamente el Concurso de Composición Elsie M. Bennet. La AAA bajo la dirección de Elsie M. Bennett patrocinó y encargó más de 50 obras para acordeón que conformaron un notable cuerpo literario. También fue la presidenta de la AAA durante 1973 y 1974. El propósito general de esta composición es añadir literatura al cuerpo de obras para acordeón solista. Esta es la única directriz en cuanto a estilo o forma para abordar la composición. Un panel de eminentes acordeonistas y compositores formará el jurado de este concurso, contando con tres premios en metálico además de ser representada la obra ganadora en el genial Festival de Verano “Buffalo Squeeze Fest”, en Buffalo, patrocinado también por la AAA. |

| Frankfurt Musikmesse es la mayor feria internacional de instrumentos musicales, partituras, producción musical y marketing celebrada anualmente en Alemania. Se celebrará del jueves 7 al domingo 10 de abril desde las 10:00 hasta las 19:00, abierto al público todos los días, más de 30.000 instrumentos mostrados en siete exposiciones, área de exteriores con atmósfera de festival: escenarios, camiones de comida, etc; iluminación y sonido profesional del sábado 5 de abril hasta el viernes 8, nuevo puesto en la sección este de la feria. Para nuestro especial interés diremos que este año el “free reed instruments (instrumentos de lengüeta libre)” estará expuesto en el Hall 9, como cada año plagado de grandes profesionales constructores de acordeones así como exhibiciones de manos de los mejores acordeonistas.  Vídeo superior: Orquesta Filarmónica de Belgrado y Peter Soave al bandoneón interpretando Oblivion, famosa composición de Astor Piazzolla, bajo la batuta de Emiliano Patarra, 17 de febrero de 2012.Soave interpretará el Concierto para Acordeón de Max Simoncic con la Joven Filarmónica de Michigan el domingo 13 de marzo de 2016 a las 14:00 en la Primera Iglesia Metodista de Plymouth, Michigan. El concierto es una celebración del 70º aniversario de la Filarmónica de Michigan. Nacido en Detroit y reconocido internacionalmente, Peter Soave vuelve a su hogar para interpretar este prometedor nuevo concierto del compositor Esloveno asentado en California Max Simoncic. Peter Soave, actualmente establecido en Francia, ganó cuatro competiciones internacionales de gran relevancia y dificultad muy temprano en su carrera y en 1987, resultó el galardonado fundacional del “Voce d'Oro” (Italia) el premio internacional que honra a aquellos que han contribuido notablemente al desarrollo y divulgación de la música moderna relacionada con el acordeón. Peter Soave retornará a los EEUU más adelante en el año cuando será artista invitado en la XVII Convención Anual Internacional de las Vegas, del 8 al 11 de agosto. |

 A feature article about the Israeli accordionist and singer Neta Weiner appeared in the Jerusalem Post, 24th February.Excerpt: The epithet oxymoronic came to mind when I met Neta Weiner in Tel Aviv last week. Here was this highly personable, even genial, young man who just oozes bonhomie. He came over as thoughtful and intelligent, and with a propensity for lighting up his vicinity with 200 watt smiles. But on the stage you get quite a different aspect of the Weiner take on life. Weiner is a 29-year-old accordionist and vocalist who first came to notice with multiethnic hip-hop band System Ali. Now he is bringing out his own debut album called ‘Bezechut Hashiva’ (With the Right of Return) which will have its official launch at the Tmuna Theater in Tel Aviv this evening (9.30 pm).   The important documentary "Accordions Risings", created by prominent film maker, Roberta Cantow, continues to garner awards and nominations. The latest one is "Nominee for Best Music Documentary" at the 2016 Barebones International Film & Music Festival to be announced at the Gala Awards Ceremony on April 24, 2016. The festival was created by filmmakers, screenwriters and actors and was created for filmmakers, screenwriters and actors who are involved in independent motion picture projects anywhere in the world.  The Accordions Worldwide News for March 1st 2002 included an announcement that the Canadian author Victoria Miles was writing a story for children about a girl in 1939 who is learning the accordion. The novel, ‘Magnifico’, was published in 2006, and is available in hardback and paperback via Amazon. ‘Magnifico’ won the 2008 F.G. Bressani novel prize, and was a finalist in four Canadian children's choice awards. Children's Book Author Features Accordion Victoria Miles is a children's book author in Canada and is currently working on a fictional story set in Vancouver about a girl in 1939 who is learning the piano accordion (her family are immigrants from Italy). She would like to hear from people who have played the piano accordion as children in the late 1930s in North America. She would also like to contact the Italian male accordion teacher of her mother (Joan Hutchinson), who studied in Victoria (Canada) in the 1940s. This man lived in the James Bay area. |

| This weekend, March 6th and 7th, sees an Accordion Cruise taking place in the Baltic. This is described in its publicity as a shipload of music, dance and merrymaking, featuring the semi-finals of the Golden and Silver Accordion competitions (picture above), dozens of performers, busking and community singing in the passageways, and the Accordion Fair. Organised by Sata-Häme Soi and the Finnish Accordion Association, this unique springtime cruise from Turku to Stockholm is the ideal event for all friends of the accordion, music and dance. Over 2,000 accordionists and accordion fans join this 24 hours music trip that has music and fun non stop. A really popular and fun event. |

 On Sunday March 13th, 1.30pm onwards, the second ‘Accordion Showcase’ takes place at the church Renfield St Stephen’s, 260 Bath Street, Glasgow G2 4JP, Scotland. This event involves an afternoon trade show (open from 1.30pm until 9.30pm) and workshops (1.30pm until 3pm and 3.30pm until 5pm), an afternoon concert from 2.30pm until 5pm, followed by an evening concert from 7pm until 10pm. The event organiser is Roy Hendrie. The workshop leaders are Robert Black – ‘Jazz’ (1st workshop) and ‘Playing Second Box’ (2nd workshop), Cristiano Lui – ‘Tango’, and John Sommerville – ‘Folk’. The afternoon concert features the Jimmy Blair Accordion Orchestra (MD Gary Blair), Roy Hendrie, Harry Hussey, and the St Roch’s Ceili Band. Catalog: rruggieri12Canto Di Natale (A Christmas Carol) is inspired by the famous story A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Performers are: Renzo Ruggieri (accordion), Tiziana De Angelis (narrator), Mauro De Federicis (guitar), Umberto Fabi (narrator). Renzo writes: "A Christmas Carol" closes the triptych of my the three "Jazz Musical Story" with "Opera?" rruggieri09 and "Valentino Tango!" rruggieri11. In each of them, in which the musical aspect is always dominant appearance recitative, the composition is structured in five scenes, introduced by the narrative and musical improvisation, which follows the instrumental piece, describing the mood of the scene. Defined as the most beautiful story about Christmas, it narrates the conversion of a miser unrepentant in a good and generous man.
