‘Guardia Nueva’ Tour - Finlandby Harley Jones |
The famous tango and entertainment orchestra ‘Guardia Nueva’ were on tour in Finland in October. Concerts were given in such places as the Sibelius Hall in Lahti, Logomo in Turku, and Tampere-talo in Tampere – some of the biggest concert halls in Finland. The tour was a success, featuring the orchestra and four soloists from Finland. Music ranged from Finnish and Argentinean tangos to electro tango and entertainment music – especially in the Latin style, for example a new arrangement of Barry Manilow’s ‘Copacabana’. The leader and founder of the Guardia Nueva is Raimo Vertainen, who also organises the annual Kokkola Winter Accordion Festival. |
