 Der 2013 All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil, der vom Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Éireann (CCE) organisiert wird, findet in diesem Jahr an mehreren Orten in der Stadt Derry, Nordirland, vom 11-18 August statt. Die Fleadh Cheoil ist ein riesiges Wettbewerbs Festival mit irischen Musik, Gesang und Tanz, mit rund 10.000 Teilnehmern und Künstlern mit einer großen Anzahl von Akkordeonisten, Melodeonspielern, Konzertinakünstlern und Mundharmonika-Spieler, sowie vielen Ceili Bands, Akkordeon und Marching Bands. Es gibt viele Gastkünstler bei Konzerten oder bei Tänze während des Festivals, darunter Beoga, Dervish, Neusa, Perfekt Friction, Reel It In, Akkordeonisten Damien Mullane und Dermot Byrne, und das BBC preisgekrönten Duo Brendan Power (Mundharmonika) und Tim Edey (Gitarre / melodeon).  Dominguinhos (geboren José Domingos de Morais) war einer der führenden brasilianischen Akkordeonisten der Forro Tradition, Komponist und Sänger. Er lebte in São Paulo und war auch von seinen Berufskollegen ein sehr angesehen Künstler.Dominguinhos war ein sehr produktiver Musiker mit Dutzenden von Aufnahmen im Laufe seiner 44jährigen musikalischen Karriere von 1964 bis 2008 vor. Er tourte auch mit vielen brasilianischen Volkssängern und Musikern wie Luiz Gonzaga, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Zé Ramalho, Toquinho und Maria Bethânia. Im Jahr 1997 schrieb Dominguinhos den Soundtrack des Films "O Cangaceiro '. Am 23. Juli Dominguinhos verstarb im Krankenhaus in São Paulo. Er er lag seit Dezember 2012 nach einer Herz-und Atemwegserkrankungen im Koma. |

 Das jährlichen Internationalen Akkordeon Festival in Palanga,vom 6. bis 11.August 2013 ist bereits zur Tradition geworden und wird von der litauischen Akkordeon Assoziation und der Litauischen Akademie für Musik und Theater (LMTA) organisiert.Das Festival findet an der S. Vainiunas Musikschule Hall statt. Die Veranstaltung bietet Klassik, Jazz, zeitgenössischer Original, und die Vielfalt Unterhaltungsmusik. Die diesjährigen Festival Gäste kommen aus Russland, Weißrussland, Polen, Lettland und Litauen. Zu den Gästen zählen der bekannte Akkordeonist, Lehrer und Komponist Viacheslav Semionov, der auch Meisterklassen halten wird und sich in einem Konzert dem Publikum präsentieren wird. Weitere Gäste werden das Trio Liritsa aus Weißrussland sein. Zbigniew Ignaczewski von der Lodz Music Academy in Polen, wird den Unterricht mit Schülern leiten und das erlernte Programm in einem Abendkonzert präsentieren. Zusätzlich zu den Gästen, junge Künstler und Schüler aus LMTA und der Musik-und Kunstschule mit ihren Lehrern aus allen Regionen Litauens. Wie üblich, werden führende Pädagogen ihre Erfahrungen und Wissen mit allen Anwesenden in Offene Meisterklassen teilen und methodische Themen werden in der Vorlesung für eine offene Diskussion zu gestalten sein. Die jungen Akkordeonisten desLandes werden die Möglichkeite haben von den besten Akkordeonmusik Lehrern der ganzen Welt geschult zu werden.  EPR (Estonian Public Broardcasting) News reports the Viljandi Folk Music Festival. The 21st traditional music festival, known to many as just Viljandi Folk, got off to a start on Thursday night and continues through Sunday. Musician Margus Põldsepp has performed at all 21 Folks. "Accordion playing has caught on among the younger set" he said. "There are accordion clubs everywhere and many young instrumentalists, both male and female belong to them," Põldsepp said. This year's festival is dedicated to the sacred - rituals and feasts of different peoples. The theme is "holy commotion." |

The text on the internet said: "In a spectacular display of only-on-the-Internet geeky creativity, we present to you … this guy, who both won the Internet for the week and the all-around 2013 Hipster World Championships (unofficially). Fans of Zelda will immediately recognize the "Lost Woods" theme, heard endlessly while players navigate this exasperating, maze-like recurring Zelda series location. But because this is the Internet, it wasn't quite enough to just play the song in the woods on an accordion. After all, this is 2013, and you've got to take these things to the next level, so a unicycle was the obvious answer. That said, we're a bit surprised no one had a kilt handy." |

| The Accordions Worldwide news for the week ending July 30th 1999 began with an Editor’s Note from Wayne Knights that included a most encouraging comment from a reader in the USA. It is good to know that AWW is inspirational to some of our readers. Editor’s Note We received a very nice email last week from a teenage accordionist in the USA, who said "I have to tell you how much I love your site! It really opened my eyes to the success of the accordion in the music world. I felt like I was one of few unique musicians in the universe, and I was so surprised to learn how many other accordion players and fans there are out there. After reviewing your site, I practice a little more intensely every day with the new feeling that I am becoming a part of a growing and exciting accordion community. Thanks and keep up the great work!" It seems very appropriate after such a letter to publicly thank all those enthusiasts who supply us with interesting news items from all corners of the world. There are so many exciting accordion activities happening to encourage and unite accordionists and the internet is a wonderful means to inexpensively convey that information.  The Camping Lanterna summer festival takes place at Porec, Croatia, from July 24th until August 14th, featuring accordionist Semir Hasic (picture left), the Atomik Hamonik Band – known for the international hit record ‘Turbo Polka’, the Croatian band Etaloni, the band Avsenik, and The Glamour Band. Camping Lanterna includes a food festival, a beer festival, and a photographic exhibition. |

 The 3rd annual Historic Wallace Accordion Festival takes place from August 9th to 11th at Elks Lodge, Wallace, Idaho. The chief guests are accordionists Bruce Gassman, Michael Bridge, and Sam Thomas, and dance lessons given by Lynn Bridge.Bruce Gassman will perform in concert and a lead a workshop; Michael Bridge will perform in concert, play for dancing, and also lead a workshop. Sam Thomas will perform in concert. There will be a Youth Competition with cash prizes. Two categories: Beginner (up through Palmer Hughes Level 4); Intermediate: Palmer Hughes Level 5 and up. Open to ages 32 and under. The festival includes a Street Fair, Vendor Booths, Open Mike at Gazebo, dance lessons, and an Accordion Celebration Parade. There will be a special showing at the Sixth Street Theater of Charlie Chaplin's silent film ‘The Kid’, starring Jackie Coogan, with Michael Bridge providing the ‘pit’ music. |

| The 7th World Harmonica Festival takes place in Trossingen, Germany, from October 30th to November 3rd. Thousands of players from around the world will gather together in the ‘Harmonica Mecca’, where over one billion harmonicas have been produced since the mid–19th Century and where Hohner, the world-market leader has its headquarters. The World Harmonica Festival has played an important cultural role in the worldwide harmonica scene in the last 24 years, and a record number of international visitors, competitors and artists is expected this year. The best players from every continent will compete in the ‘Harmonica World Championships’ in various genres and age groups.
