This
was the start of competitions which began at 8am in the morning
and went on all day. With over 100 large buses in the area taking
orchestras in and out from the event, there was a real festival
atmosphere.
This huge event had 9 different juries operating over the period
of the festival competitions. Buses move in and out of concert
hall drop off areas like cars do at a concert hall and everywhere
was crowded with accordionists and other instrumentalists moving
with equipment to their competition venue.
In the evening there were three different venues providing concerts.
Saal Innsbruck: Operassion was the title of the concert, Tango
Nuevo, featuring original music of Astor Piazzolla.
Messhalle: Musical Revue tracing the accordion around the world
Saal Tirol: Akkordeon Gala featuring the Nuernburger Akkordeonorchester
Willi Muench directed by Stefan Hippe, the Orchester of the Hohner
Conservatorium nad the Young Peoples Orchestra of Bayern, both
under the conductor Fritz Dobler and an Ensemblefrom the Hohner
Conservatorium.
Fritz Dobler put on a tremendous finish, conducting his own composition
and conducting with the energy of a man half his age, to a capacity
audience in the very large Saal Tirol, which I would estimate
holds nearly 2,000 audience.
Some photos of events during Friday will
be added shortly.
