Opening Reception

On Thursday evening, to open the event, there was a very nice Opening Reception. The Burgermestier of Innsbruck Hilde Zach attended as did a Representative of the State and the hundreds of accordionists present were there.

Making speeches were such accordion dignatories as President of the DHV Ernst Pfister MdL, DHV Vice-President and main organizer Arnold Kutzli, President of the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) Kevin Friedrich, President of the International Accordion Orchestra Assoc. Prof Walter Maurer.

Also attending was the Head of Jury Fritz Dobler, Jury members and hundreds of orchestra directors and well known accordion personalities from many different countries.

The formal part of the evening began with welcome speeches by the Innsbruck Mayor Hilde Zach, DHV President Ernst Pfister MdL and the Austrian State Representative after which they were presented with the figurines in this picture.

There were presentations to the orchestras who had attended every Innsbruck Festival and here Günther Zeilinger is holding his certificate.

There were presentations for Jury and the Head of the Jury and highly esteemd composer Fritz Dobler (center) is here being presented by Ernst Pfister MdL (left) DHV President and Arnold Kutzli (right) DHV Vice-President his certificate and trophy.
Another important presentation was to another highly esteemed composer Adolf Goetz was made a presentation by Arnold Kutzli (left), Adolf Goetz (center) and Ernst Pfister MdL (right).
Prof. Walter Maurer made a welcome speech in his capacity as President of the International Accordion Orchestra Association.
President of the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) Kevin Friedrich presented to Arnold Kutzli the CIA Merit Award for his superb work over many years as an Officer of the DHV, promoting and developing the accordion and accordion activities on both a national and international level.
President of the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) Kevin Friedrich presented to Prof. Walter Maurer the first ever CIA Honorary Membership for over 30 years of work on the Executive of the CIA and for all his other activities on both a national level and an international level that have helped the development of the accordion. In the background is George Hettman, regional DHV Director for Bavaria who translated the speech honoring Walter Maurer by Kevin Friedrich.
Innsbruck Mayor Hilde Zack is ever the promoter of her area of Austria and here she is making sure CIA President Kevin Friedrich tries the local specialty soup. A most engaging enjoyable Mayor - and the soup was great!
