El acordeonista finlands Mika Väyrynen actuar en el Sibelius Festival que se celebrar en Loviisa (Finlandia) el prximo 15 de Junio. En el mismo tendremos la oportunidad de escucharle al bandonen en una velada que han querido llamar El gran Tango. Mika interpretar el Homenaje a Liege, un concierto para bandonen, guitarra y cuerdas, La Camorra I,II,III, Concierto para Quinteto, la Milonga del Angel y Adios Nonino. Todo ello con un quinteto formado por bandonen, piano, violn, guitarra y contrabajo.
En este mismo concierto tendremos la oportunidad de escuchar el estreno mundial de la obra Loviisa Duo compuesta por Jaakko Kuusisto, violinista miembro del grupo Tango four y lder de la Lahti Symphony Orchestra. Esta fascinante y compleja obra ha sido descrita como una de las mejores que se han escrito para bandonen y ha sido un encargo del propio Sibelius Festival de Loviisa.
En este mismo festival y el da 16 de Junio podremos escuhar a Mika al bayan en este caso interpretando una revisin de la Ciaccona de J.S.Bach.
Recientemente hemos tenido la oportunidad de escuchar a Mika Vyrynen en el Ritarihuone de Helsinki compartiendo cartel junto con el bartono Tommi Hakala ( Vencedor del Concurso de canto de Cardiff ) e interpretando obras de Bach, Scarlatti, Rameau and Moskowski.

Cuestionario para acordeonistas, Minnesota (E.E.U.U.)
La Dra. Lynda Griffith est recopilando informacin a travs de un cuestionario destinado a intrpretes de acorden, concertina, bandonen, etc.... sobre las lesiones y su relacin con los hbitos de estudio as como de los distintos niveles de dificultad.
Dicha informacin ser incluida en el libro que prximamente editar sobre las distintas tcnicas de ejecucin de los distintos sistemas de acorden as como de la prevencin y el tratamiento de las lesiones de los msicos intrpretes.
A da de hoy, Linda Griffith ha recopilado el testimonio de ms de 400 personas provenientes de ms
de 25 paises, pero considera necesario conseguir ms informacin sobre todo de fuera de los EEUU. El libro pretende ser una gua prctica para ejecutantes, profesores y para los mdicos que tratan este tipo de lesiones.
Lynda Griffith tiene una completsima formacin en esta materia que incluye las siguientes titulaciones: Doctora en fisioterapia, Fisioterapeuta autorizada, Tcnico reparador de acorden, concertina y bandonen y es intrprete de los siete principales instrumentos que componen la familia del acorden. Es igualmente miembro de la Performing Arts Medicine Association y de la Performing Arts Special Interest Group of the American Physical Therapy Association.
La mayora de los cuestionarios enviados provienen de los EEUU y se considera necesario tener ms testimonios de Europa, Asia, Rusia o Africa de cara a un estudio ms amplio y completo. Se ruega la participacin y contribucin a travs de la difusin de dicho cuestionario entre estudiantes y profesores.
3 Jornadas sobre la Armonica en Praga ( Repblica checa).
El Club Tours Agentur de Praga y la Asociacin checa de acorden estn organizando la 3 edicin del Harmonica Days Festival, un concurso internacional para agrupaciones y orquestas de armnica y acorden. En este evento internacional que se celebrar entre el 1 y el 4 de Noviembre se podrn escuchar a integrantes de distintas agrupaciones y orquestas amateurs de todo el mundo.
Categoras:
I) Grupos de Acorden, Concertina y Meloden. Agrupaciones de 4 a 11 msicos, sin contar al director. Estos grupos podrn incluir otros intrumentos pero el acorden y la armnica debern ser el instrumento predominante. Programa libre con un tiempo mximo de 12 Minutos.
2) Orquestas de Acorden Jvenes (Mximo 25 aos)
Orquestas de 12 o ms miembros. Estos grupos podrn incluir otros intrumentos pero el acorden deber ser el instrumento predominante. Programa libre en cuanto a estilo y poca con un tiempo mximo de 15 Minutos.
3) Orquestas de Acorden Adultos
Orquestas de 12 o ms miembros. Estos grupos podrn incluir otros intrumentos pero el acorden deber ser el instrumento predominante. Programa libre en cuanto a estilo y poca con un tiempo mximo de 15 Minutos.
El cierre de la inscripcin se har el 31 de Julio.

International Accordion Championships - New Zealand & Australia
The South Pacific Accordion Championships (Daily Reports) were held in Auckland, New Zealand from June 1st to 3rd. One week later was held the Australian International Accordion Championships (Daily Reports) in Sydney, Australia from June 9th to 10th.
Both events now have international categories for contestants from any country in the world and are starting to attract more international entries.
The AATA has now published its 2008 Prospectus (competition rules) online and these rules are virtually the same as the New Zealand event. The two events will again be held one week apart in 2008 continuing the cooperation of many years.
La pgina web de la CMA (Confederacin mundial del Acorden) ha actualizado su informacin con la inclusin del reglamento para el Trofeo Mundial-CMA 2007. Esta competicin se celebrar entre las fechas del 6 y el 11 de noviembre en Samara ( Rusia ) teniendo a Sergei Voitenko como principal responsable de la organizacin del
mismo.

Richard Galliano Honors Michel Legrand, New York – USA
Accordionist Richard Galliano, with George Marz – bass, and Clarence Penn – drums, performed at a special 'French Evening' award ceremony honoring the composer Michel Legrand at the IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators Convention), held at the Hilton Hotel, New York. Galliano’s performance, which included such pieces as the ‘Windmills of Your Mind’ and ‘Under Paris Skies’, “mesmerised” the audience, according to the official report.
This was, incidentally, the first time the French government received recognition by the IAJE for welcoming many American ex-pat jazz musicians in Paris over the years. The French were undoubtedly responsible for saving the careers of some of the most important jazz figures who couldn't make enough money in the USA to live comfortably.
The next IAJE convention will be in Toronto Canada, January 2008.
Accordionist Salvatore Cauteruccio is presently involved with ‘La Barraca’, a theatrical company, in a touring show titled ‘Beyond the Road’. This production is about social injustice, and has a musical score for accordion.
Cauteruccio has also recently performed with the trio ‘Acoustic Music Ensemble’ (P. Perrone, E.Campagna) at the theater of the Hotel Santa Caterina (Scalea, Cs) and with the ‘Jazztango Quartet’ (E.Campagna, A.Mango, A.Sirufo) at the Sala Consiliare, Town Hall, Scalea (Cs).

The Erstes Kölner Akkordeon-Orchester 1935, one of Germany’s longest established accordion orchestras, perform in concert on August 31st, at 8pm, in the Cologne Philharmonic Hall. The program will include everything from classical music to the sounds of the swing bands. The concert will a selection of music from classical to the sounds of the swing bands. The concert will have special guest appearances by the Willy Ketzer Trio, Hans-Günther Kölz – jazz accordion, and Katrin Gass – harmonica.

The Tønder Festival, takes place from August 23rd to 26th and is a four-day folk music event that has been going from strength to strength since its inauguration in 1975, with performances in venues across the town.
Performers at the festival will include a variety of free reed instruments including the Dirk Powell Band (USA), Balfa Toujours (USA), Solas (USA), Great Big Sea (Canada), Hans Theesink Band (Austria/Zimbabwe), Runrig (Scotland), Lau (Scotland), and Danú (Ireland).
Two main tents provide large capacities for the headline acts, while the Old Windmill and Tønder High School offer a more intimate atmosphere. There is ample camping space available for those who want to make a long weekend of it.
The 17th National Accordion Competition, the 7th International Competition for Classical and Variety accordion, and the 9th Premier International Competition for concert accordionists, takes place from 5th to 7th October in the Fedele Fenaroli Theater, Lanciano. Entrance is free to all events.
The festival includes two concerts: Saturday October 6th - Roberto Caberlotto and Gilberto Meneghin as a duo, and Sunday October 7th - the Orchestra of Archi.
The Artistic Director is Cesare Chiacchiaretta, and event organiser is Nicola Gargarella.
