Una revista ha publicado: “ El CD permite al oyente descubrir realmente y explotar plenamente el talento de este maravilloso intérprete”.
Eddie Hession, 2º puesto en la Coupe Mondiale 1981, es uno de los acordeonistas principales del Reino Unido, interpretando habitualmente con el quinteto ZUM donde no actúa como solista o en sesiones de grabación en estudios. Ha tocado en muchas bandas sonoras de músicas importantes de Hollywood, incluyendo “La mandolina del capitán Coreli”, “Evita”, “Shrek” y “El señor de los anillos” y ha acompañado a estrellas de un amplio espectro musical como son Lesley Garret, The Cors y ronan Keating.
El acordeonista escocés afincado en Sydney John Macdonald va a finalizar su apretado año de trabajo con la aparición en el cabaret del Crucero “Love Boats”, Princesa del Pacífico. John viajará al sur de las islas de Nueva Zelanda en Diciembre, entreteniendo al pasaje durante dos semanas de crucero y regresando a Sydney el 22 de Diciembre para las actuaciones navideñas.

El afinador, técnico y reparador de acordeones Alfonso Baldoni ha fallecido a la edad de 82 años. Original de Castelfidardo, Italia, Alfonso vivió en Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin desde 1956, donde su especial habilidad con el trabajo interno de los acordeones le permitió ganarse bien la vida. Los acordeones arreglados por Baldoni han pertenecido a Frankie Yankovi, Joey Miskulin, Dan Newton, Alison Krauss, CJ Chenier, Betty Jo Simon, Joe Derrane, Steve Meister y Sheryl Crow.
El recuerdo de Baldoni pervive en su mujer Nancy, su hijo Ivo, su hija Annette Pigini y cuatro nietos. En Menomonee Falls tuvo lugar una ceremonia privada y Alfonso Baldoni fue posteriormente enterrado en Castelfidardo.
Calendario “Aficionados del acordeón”, Escocia- Reino Unido
El calendario “Aficionados del Acordeón” para el 2007, una producción a color con fotografías de acordeones antiguos, ha sido producida y presentada por Caroline Hunt, de Inverness, Escocia.
El 4º Concurso Internacional para jóvenes acordeonistas tendrá lugar en Kragujevac, Serbia, del 26 al 31 de Marzo de 2007. Las normas y el resto de detalles del concurso ya están disponibles.
Maria Merkelo, known as the accordion's ‘Champagne Lady’ at the University of Illinois, performed in two concerts within an hour in two theaters in the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Urbana, on November 16th.
First, there was the 10th Annual Salvatore Martirano Award Concert in the Tryon Festival Theatre. Maria performed her part with the UI New Music Ensemble, conducted by Stephen Taylor, in a demanding piece scored for ten instruments titled ‘Dolmen for a New Albion’, by Nicholas Paul Vines.
Immediately following the performance of the Vines' work, Maria made her way to the Follinger Great Hall next door for a costume change and to prepare for her performance as the only instrumental soloist on that evening's program by the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Steven Larsen. The work was Dominick Argento's ‘Valentino Dances’, a popular Suite from his 1994 opera, ‘The Dream of Valentino’. Maria Merkelo brought to this performance the evocative sensuality that characterizes the tango.
On December 16th, Friedrich Lips performs E. Podgaits ‘Ex-Animo’ for bayan and string quartet with the famous Glinka Quartet: Julia Igonina, Helen Kharitonova, Aleksander Galkovsky and Oleg Smirnov. The concert takes place in the Concert Hall of the Russian Gnessin Music Academy, Moscow, and begins at 7pm.
On the 12th and 14th, Lips performed solo concerts in Moscow, with performances involving with premieres of compositions by A. Cholminov, R. Ledenjov, E. Podgaits and works by V. Zolotariev, Schuman, Schubert, Boccherini, Piazzolla, Chatchaturjan, Gershwin and Strauss.
