El 15 de octubre en el Festival y Concurso Internacional de Castelfidardo, el director artístico Paolo Picchio, presentó al público una Carta en inglés y en italiano en honor de Harley Jones y el 10º aniversario de Accordions Worldwide. Fue presentada en el concierto de entrega final de premios. Mención en inglés. Mención en italiano.
Participantes, delegados y miembros del jurado de más de 30 países del mundo se reunieron en Asker, Noruega, para celebrar la 59 Coupe Mondiale organizada por el miembro de la CIA: Norske Trekkspilleres Landsforbund (NTL). El evento coincidió con el 35 aniversario de la NTL y ha sido la primera vez en la historia de la CIA que el evento tiene lugar en Noruega.
La Coupe Mondiale de este año la ganó Vladimir Chernukh (Rusia), un alumno de Viatcheslav Semionov. Un gran número de público disfrutó con la música de las seis categorías y conciertos de la Coupe Mondiale. Los ganadores fueron los siguientes:-

Concurso Internacional para acordeón de teclas: Vladimir Anikin, Rusia
Concurso Internacional de música de cámara: Trío Des Concertante, Portugal

Categoría varieté junior: Mario D´Amario, Italia
El ganador de la Coupe Mondiale Valdimir Chernukh también recibió el premio a la mejor interpretación de la obra obligada “Fractals, op.142” escrita por el compositor noruego Wolfgang Plagge, quien acudió a escuchar la interpretación de su obra por los participantes así como el concierto final de clausura. También recibió un premio de la Delegación portuguesa de la CIA, una gira de conciertos por Portugal. El ganador del concurso para acordeón de teclas: Vladimir Anikin recibió un premio especial, una gira de conciertos por Australia y Nueva Zelanda.
También se presentaron otros premios especiales, uno de ellos para Carlos Semedo (Portugal) por su trabajo de preparación de la 58 Coupe Mondiale en Castelo Branco, igualmente Pauline Noon (Reino Unido) y June Jones (Australia) fueron reconocidas con el Premio Honorífico de la CIA al igual que Tibor Racz (Eslovaquia).
Durante la 116 Asamblea General de delegados, la CIA realizó sus Elecciones Generales para el 2006
2010 del equipo directivo, excepto el Presidente que fue votado el año pasado. El secretario General de la CIA Walter Maurer (Austria) abandona su cargo después de 35 años. En reconocimiento a su trabajo al servicio de la CIA, fue nombrado primer Miembro Honorario de la CIA además de recibir numerosas muestras de reconocimiento durante el festival.
Los resultados de la elección fueron: Vice presidentes: Raymond Bodell (Reino Unido), Tibor Racz (Eslovaquia) y Herbert Scheibenreif (Austria), Relaciones públicas: Harley Jones (Fiji), Secretario general/tesorero: Kimmo Mattila (Finlandia) y Presidente del comité de música: Frederic Deschamps (Francia). El comité musical también incluye a Joan C. Sommers (vicepresidenta), y a Harley Jones (Fiji), Jacques Mornet (Francia), Jorgen sundeqvist (Suecia), Zorica Karakutovska (Macedonia) y Viatcheslav Semionov (Rusia).
El alcalde de Asker, Morton Strand acudió a numerosos eventos del festival y ofreció su colaboración y bienvenida a los visitantes extranjeros. Agradecimiento especial se merece el Vicepresidente honorario de la CIA 2006 y Presidente de la Asociación de acordeón Noruega Kell Olsen y al organizador de la Coupe Mondiale 2006 Lars Arnevig y a todo su equipo por todo el trabajo de preparación del evento.
Mirando hacia el futuro de la próxima Coupe Mondiale, el 60 aniversario de la Coupe Mondiale organizado por Faithe Deffner, fue nombrada Vice presidenta honoraria de la CIA 2007. Esta Coupe Mondiale tendrá lugar en Alexandria, VA (Washington DC) del 14 l 18 de Agosto.

Finnish accordionist Mika Väyrynen has released his newest CD entitled ‘Tree of Life’ on the ALBA label.
In an interview, pianist Grigory Sokolow once said: "There is no time in music... to me, they are all alive". Agreeing with this concept about the timelessness of music, Mika has grouped the works on the CD so that the composers’ birth years are separated by more than two hundred years. Because music is timeless, the works and their composers communicate in a way that is entirely natural, mutually understanding and respectful.
Mika has transcribed the Bach works himself including the transcription of the Chaconne by Bach, which is completely new compared to the version he released on his previous CD ‘Transcriptions’. Works on the new CD include:-

Anne Landa has begun teaching the accordion and the Alexander Technique for musicians at the Music school of SotoMesa in Madrid, developing a new and specific pedagogical program.
Melbourne accordionist Bernadette Conlon, will release her tenth CD titled ‘Popular Light Classical Masterpieces’, which includes such pieces as ‘Finlandia’, ‘Waltz of the Flowers’, ‘In a Persian Market’ and the overtures to ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’ and Rossini's ‘Italian Girl in Algiers’. This is her tenth annual Melbourne Cup Eve concert, for the Bentleigh Organ Club, and it has become the major accordion event in Melbourne over the last decade.
As well as Bernadette's CD release, the Accordion Orchestra of Melbourne, which she formed and conducts, will perform, as well as the new all girl group, Hot Stuff. The concert, which promises to be exciting, will include Bernadette's now famous request segment, where members of the audience request pieces for her to play.
Held at the Coatesville Bowling Club, corner of Mackie Rd and Tudor Step, Bentleigh, at 8p.m. The concert will feature a lavish supper, CD signing and a display of antique Free Reed instruments.
Virtuoso accordionist Rosemary Wright is the guest at Chester Accordion Club on October 31st, at 8.15pm. The concert begins at 7.30pm, and admission is free!

This concert, on November 18th, 7.30pm, takes place at St Peter's Church, Vere Street, London W1G 0DQ, featuring Astor Piazzolla’s compositions and the music of Russia; musicians - Elisabeth Levine (violin), Nikolai Ryskov (accordion).
‘East Meets West’
Pre-Christmas concert of Classical and Russian music
This concert takes place on December 19th, at 7.30 pm at St. Saviour's Church, Walton Place, Knightsbridge, London SW3 1SA.
The musicians involved include: Lola Toursunova (soprano), Nikolai Ryskov (accordion), Elisabeth Levine (violin), Youry Veryovkin (guitar, piano).
The band Snakefish, featuring Cathie Travers on accordion, play at Ashfield Reserve, Guildford Rd, Ashfield, New South Wales, on November 5th, from 2pm to 2.40pm.
An accordion seminar takes place in Valladolid on November 11th and 12th, organised by Raul Álvarez Martin, Secretary of the Musical association of Accordionists of Valladolid.
Frank Marocco and Nick Ballarini Camp, Arizona – USA
The location and date of the 2007 Frank Marocco - Nick Ballarini Accordion Camp have just been announced. The camp will take place at the Dobson Ranch Resort in Mesa, Arizona (a suburb of Phoenix) from January 24th to 28th 2007.
The camp will feature daily orchestra rehearsals led by composer, performer and conductor, Frank Marocco. The orchestra is open to accordionists of all levels, performing multiple part arrangements. Though the orchestra will not be performing any jazz arrangements, there will be a jazz workshop, as well as jazz music during the evening activities (some performed by Frank Marocco). The orchestra will perform a public concert on the last evening of the camp. Accordionist and bandleader, Nick Ballarini, will coordinate all activities.
Participation is limited to 50 players - there is no limit on non-players. Registration closes on November 15th 2006.
