El
acordeonista italiano Mauro Carra va a visitar el Reino Unido en una
corta gira en Enero de 2006, organizada por Romano Viazzani. Mauro
Carra comenzó a estudiar el acordeón a los 9 años,
con Piero Barbieri y Learco Gianferrari. Bruno Aragosti, Paolo Gandolfi,
Renato Benelli, Gigi Stok , Carlo Venturi, Frédéric
Deschamps, Renzo
Ruggeri y Richard Galliano han influido en el estilo de tocar
de Mauro. Hasta la fecha Mauro Carra ha realizado 5 grabaciones y
está trabajando ya en el proyecto de una sexta grabación.
Mauro ha participado con éxito en varios concursos nacionales
e internacionales. En la Semana Internacional del Acordeón,
en Stradella, Italia , en el año 2000, actuó como solista
en la categoría varieté. El año siguiente obtuvo
numerosos éxitos en el Festival de Acordeón de Londres
que tuvo lugar en el Complejo Wembley, tanto como solista como con
la BBC Concert Orquesta en el especial Concierto de Gala. En el 2002
actuó en un concierto con la Orquesta Sinfónica en el
Teatro Comunale de Bologna, interpretando fragmentos de las películas
de Charlie Chaplin. El mismo año fu elegido para representar
a Italia en el Campeonato del Mundo de Acordeón donde obtuvo
el sexto puesto.
La apretada agenda de conciertos de Mauro Carra le han llevado por
toda Italia y también por Francia, Inglaterra, España

Soave ofreció un recital en la Sala de conciertos del Conservatorio
de Hanoi. Su programa incluyó música de Astor Piazzolla
y varias de sus propias improvisaciones.
LA interpretación de Peter
Soave (al acordeón y al bandoneón) impresionaron
al público de Hanoi con su tremenda y refinada musicalidad
y virtuosismo, su brillante e impresionante técnica. Soave
también se reunió con los profesores y estudiantes del
Departamento de Acordeón del Conservatorio de Hanoi.

Pamela Deakin, Birmingham - Reino Unido

LA
profesora de Acordeón Pamela Deakin ha fallecido a la edad
de 69 años a finales de noviembre tras una larga batalla contra
el cáncer. Pamela
Deakin, de Warley, Staffordshire, fue una de las acordeonistas más
competitivas de los años 50, ganando tres veces el Campeonato
de Toda-Bretaña además de otros muchos títulos.
Comenzó a estudiar el acordeón bajo la tutela del fallecido
George Glay en 1950. Su progreso fue rápido y durante tres
años fue campeona nacional ganando el Campeonato Amateur de
Toda-Bretaña en 1953 y posteriormente en 1954. En 1955 Pamela
obtuvo una meritoria octava plaza en la Coupe
Mondiale de la CIA
celebrada en Brighton. Su mayor éxito llegó en 1956
cuando ganó el Campeonato Virtuoso de Toda-Bretaña,
aunque su segunda participación por el título mundial
fue menos bien que la primera ya que acabó decimoquinta. Tras
su competitiva carrera, Pamela Deakin se convirtió en una respetada
y conocida profesora.
Concierto
de Alexander Sklyarov, Astana - Kazakhstan El
23 de noviembre se celebró un brillante concierto en Astana,
Capital de Kazakhstan, que presentó al Artista del Pueblo
de Rusia, Alexander Sklyarov. El concierto tuvo lugar en la recientemente
inaugurada Sala Organ de la academia nacional Kazakh de música.
El programa de concierto incluyó obras de I.Muffat, B.Bend,
E.Derbienko, V.Chernikov y A.Timoshenko. Alexander Sklyarov interpretó
también "3 transcripciones de canciones nacionales rusas"
de Alexander Timoshenko las cuales fueron dedicadas a la memoria
del compositor.
A primera hora del día Sklyarov ofreció una masterclass
a los estudiantes de la academia de música. Músicos
de otras ciudades de Kazakhstan viajaron a Astana para ver y escuchar
tocar a este músico extranjero. "Nunca habíamos
escuchado una actuación así antes" fue el comentario
del público después del concierto. Las críticas
posteriores comentaron su magnífico sonido, brillante técnica
y poderosas dinámicas.

Canelo Concert Tour, Mexico City - Mexico Accordionist Salomòn Cinnamon has completed a tour
of Mexico, performing concerts in Atargea, Villagrand, Acàmbaro,
Irapuato, Comonfort, Pènjamo, San Josè Iturbide, San
Diego de la Uniòn, San Felipe, Doctor Mora, Tierra Blanca,
Dolores Hidalgo and Victoria. The tour was organised by the Government's
Institute of Culture.

Karen Street was the All Britain Virtuoso Champion in 1982 and 1983,
and a competitor in the 1984 CIACoupe Mondiale
held in Folkestone, England. She later performed on saxophone as a
member of the all female quartet the Fairer Sax, and now has returned
to the accordion, both as a player and a composer. In the near future
she is to record as a duo with accordionist Tony Compton.
Wartime
Singalongs, Stockport - UK Accordionists
Rob
Howard and John Jones lead singalongs of World War Two songs at
the Stockport Air Raid Shelters on December 5th, 8th and 15th, from
8.15pm. These shows are at the end of guided tours of the underground
shelters where in 1940 and 1941, up to 7,000 people spent the nights
to escape bombing raids. Accordionists were a regular and welcome
form of entertainment in the shelters, and the present day shows are
also proving popular with the public.
On
December 8th, diatonic button accordionist Joe Whelan, banjo player
Liam Farrell, and pianist Reg Hall will perform Irish music and songs
at the The Royal Oak Folk Club, Lewes, East Sussex. On January 5th,
button accordionist John Kirkpatrick will be the guest at the same
venue.

Accordion Orchestra Charity Concert, Macclesfield - UK

Stockport Accordion Orchestra, directed by Brian Jenkins, perform
at Henbury and Broken Cross Institute, Macclesfield on December 9th,
at 8pm. Proceeds from the concert are donated to the East Cheshire
Hospice.

Lunchtime Concert, London - UK On December 13th there will be a free lunchtime concert presented
by Accordions at Morley, from 1.05pm, at Morley College (close to
London's Waterloo Station).
Jimmy
Shand Memorial Concert, Fife - UK

The
annual Jimmy Shand Memorial Concert takes place on January 29th, from
1.30 to 5pm, at St Andrew's Town Hall, Fife, Scotland. This popular
event involves at least 26 guest accordionists, and all the music
performed is either composed by Sir Jimmy Shand, or has been recorded
by him. The concert will end with all the players in an ensemble,
playing 'The Bluebell Polka', 'Whistling Rufus', The Six Twenty Two
Step', and other numbers made famous by Jimmy Shand and his Band.
All proceeds from the concert will be donated to Chas (a charity for
terminally ill children) and Rymonth House, which caters for people
with learning disabilities.
Sir Jimmy Shand (1908-2001), the only accordionist to date to receive
a Knighthood by HM Queen Elizabeth, was a highly prolific recording
artiste and composer, with a career that lasted over sixty years.
His influence on Scottish music and dancing was profound, inspiring
countless numbers of people to play and listen to accordions. In recent
years, many Shand recordings have been issued on digitally remastered
CDs, including material that covers the 1930s until recent times.
