Wedding Celebration for Jörgen and Paivi Sundeqvist

Jörgen Sundeqvist and Päivi Mettälä were married in the newly restored Chamber Hall at Prague Conservatory in Prague, Czech Republic on July 2nd.

Jörgen Sundeqvist wrote:

We have prepared this wedding quite a long time. Why we chose Prague is very simple. I have been in Prague about 4 times a year for many years, teaching at the Conservatory, playing, adjudicating and other interesting projects together with my Czech brother (great friend) Ladislav Horak plus a strong collaboration with several Czech composers.

Since I met Päivi, she has also taken Prague to her heart and we have made Prague our second home with many amazing good and best friends.

The wedding last Saturday July 2nd started with the wedding ceremony at the beautiful and newly restored Chamber Hall at Prague Conservatory. My best man was my Czech brother Ladislav Horak. Päivi’s bridemaids were her two best friends since childhood, Susanne Hamari and Kirsi Kero-Katajainen, also an excellent accordionist.

After the ceremony, Ladislav Horak had prepared a surprise concert for us with some very prominent Czech musicians plus accordion students from Prague Conservatory. Our families from Sweden and Finland joined us for this special, unique and very memorable day.

As you can see in the pictures, many international friends from the accordion world also took part in our wedding, like team Scandalli, Lars & Sven Karlsson and many others. There is also one picture with great accordion historical interest. You see Päivi and me together with our good and true friends, Vera Ublova, the wife and partner of the legendary world famous accordionist Milan Blaha. Milan was also our dear friend until he past away a few years ago.

Also in the photo is Vaclav Trojan, the son of the world famous composer Vaclav Trojan, who has written so unbelievable good and beautiful music for the accordion. All written especially for Milan Blaha. The Trojan family has been great friends since my first visit to Prague many years ago.

After the ceremony and concert, all guests walked next door to the new beautiful Jelinek Slivovice Museum for wedding dinner, entertainment and dance.

Jörgen Sundeqvist wrote: We are now on our way to Castelfidardo by car and will stay there until Tuesday. Päivi had her 50th birthday two days ago and tonight the Scandalli team plus many other friends will arrange a surprise party for Päivi at Pippo Restaurant in Castelfidardo.
