Accordion Playing

Text and pictures from accordions.com Weekly News article, 04 August 2017

Cory Pesaturo has won world accordion championships and he is now on a new world quest: a Guiness World Record.

Sponsored by RedBull, Cory will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for Longest Accordion Playing on August 4, 2017.

The longest marathon playing accordion lasted 31 hours 25 minutes and was achieved by Anssi Laitinen (Finland) at Koljonvirta Camping Area, Iisalmi, Finland from 31 July to 1 August 2010. Anssi played 536 different songs throughout the attempt.

Cory will attempt to play for 33-36 hours starting 10:30 am Friday 4th August at Optik Neuroth, Am Eisernen Tor 2, 8010 Graz, Austria. Corey is allowed a 30 second break between songs and a 5 minute break every hour and will perform on an accordion sent to him by Scandalli who will also be a sponsor.

Sponsor RedBull is video taping the entire event and also providing the witnesses. There must be two witnesses changing every four hours, never repeating a witness. Music cannot be repeated within any 4 hour period.

Go Cory!!!!

I did some sponsoring for my good friend Giampaolo Dallara who owns Dallara Chassis;
the most famous an important chassis builder in the modern era of motorsport! He's SO nice!

Cory wrote: "Here is just after I finished the Austrian National Anthem which is what I planned to
play when crossing over the record. We started at 10:30am, as you can see, I was at 31:28 at this point."

Cory wrote: "Philipp Berkessy who is the head of marketing at the RedBull Ring (the Formula 1 / Moto GP
racetrack in Austria) who really put this all together: he's on the right. On my left is
the head of Optik Neuroth, the Glasses store that allowed us to use their space,
and was also fantastic with food and other help. All of his employees constantly helped."

Corey wrote: "On the right in the pink shirt is Helmut Marko, 1970 Winner of Le Mans
as a Driver, also won the Targa Florio. But he is best known as the
driver head for the Redball Formula One team. He found Vettel,
Ricciardo, Sainz and such. To the left is Neuroth-Vorstand Thomas Perissutti.
My connection Helmut and the Race team is really how all this happened,
an wit was exceptional that he came down and did all kinds of interviews
for me to help market this. He's a huuuuuge huge deal in Austria. Especially Graz."

This was right before I broke the Record.

Cory wrote: "This guy sprayed champagne on the window when I Did it! Racing Style!"

An excellent promotion for the accordion and congratulations to Cory
on the new Guiness World Record.
