The International Music Center 'Harmony' is celebrating 10 years of musical successes with a special 10th Anniversary Jubilee 'Concert of Harmony' in the Palace of Culture Rostvertol.

International Music Center 'Harmony' History
International Musical Center (IMC) "Harmony" logoThe 'Accordion Plus' Festival is held annually by the International Musical Center (IMC) "Harmony". The main initiator of the festival and its’ art director is famous Rostov accordionist Alexander Poeluev.

The purpose of the organization International Musical Center (IMC) "Harmony" is to improve the performing skills of the accordion and bayan players, and many events have been held for this goal.

This work has been already widely recognized and as a result, in 2016 International Musical Center (IMC) "Harmony" will host the 2016 Coupe Mondiale World Accordion Championships in Rostov-on-Don.

Since 2005, the IMC “Harmony” has organized a number of significant events in South Russia, such as:
- Concerts by the American accordionist Art Van Damme (2005)
- Frank Morocco (2006);
- Vladimir Danilin’s jazz quartet (Moscow, 2006);
- International Festival “100th Anniversary of Russian Bayan” (2007);
- Concerts of Elodie Sular (France, 2007);
- Jazz quartet Musicini Alain (France, 2008);
- concert “Accordion Plus”, dedicated to the World Day of the Accordion (2009);
- “Parade ensembles” concert with popular artists of Russia (2010).

Since 2010, the “Accordion Plus” Festival has acquired international status. In March 2011, in association with the Rostov-on-Don Department of Culture, the first Open children’s competition for accordion “Accordion Plus” was held with great success, as part of the 2nd International Festival. Alena Bulatetskaya (Rostov-on-Don, student of the Rostov State Rachmaninov Conservatoire Music school) won Grand Prix. The festival program included the world premiere of “Music history in jazz style “Opera?” of the Italian accordionist and composer Renzo Ruggieri. Among guests of the festival there were many honored and well-known musicians and ensembles. People’s Artist of Russia, composer, Professor Vyacheslav Semionov (Moscow) was a special guest of the festival.

In spring 2012 the 3rd International Festival “Accordion Plus” was arranged by the Rostov-on-Don Department of Culture together with the IMC “Harmony”. The festival was opened with a concert “Slavic patterns” and performance of Slavko Mitrovic’s ensemble from Serbia. At the closing of the festival, concert “Cinema and Tango”, conducted by Roberto Molinelli (Italy), took place. The winner of the 2nd Grand Prix at the Open Competition for Children and Youth playing accordion, was Anna Kryshtalyova (Novokubansk, Krasnodar region).

In 2013 the 4th International Festival “Accordion Plus” was held. Yuri Shishkin, President of the festival and the honored Artist of Russia, laureate of international competitions, was featured performer at the Opening concert. After that, an evening with Rostov composer Alexander Dorensky took place. Audience had an opportunity to enjoy the premiere of “Moldovan Rhapsody”, performed by the orchestra of the Tchaikovsky Children’s Music School with the winner of international competitions, Alexander Poeluev as its ‘soloist. Final concert of the festival, “Bravo, Accordion!” included performances of the Honored Artist of Ukraine Vladimir Murza, Russian folk orchestra “Don” and famous 'Motion Trio' from Poland.

Rhe 3rd International Competition “Accordion Plus” Grand Prix winner was Peter Yarinenko (student of the Rostov Rakhmaninov college, teacher Alexander Poeluev).

In 2014 Festival was opened with gala concert “Stars of the XXI century”. The following artists participated in it:
Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi (Italy), Luca Lucchini (Italy), Honored Artist of the Republic of Crimea Enver Seit Abdulov, winner of international competitions Nikita Vlasov (Nizhniy Novgorod), winner of international festivals ensemble “Divo” (Taganrog). On March 29 a jubilee concert of Yuri Shishkin took place in the Rostov Regional Philharmonic Hall. Soloists: People’s Artist of Russia, Daniel Kramer, Ekaterina Mechetina, , Evgeniy Stembolsky, Rodion Zamuruev (Moscow), Michail and Aliona Savchenko (Rostov-on-Don), Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Rostov State Philharmonic, conducted by A. Polyanichko. At the closing of the 5th International Festival “Accordion Plus” gala concert “The Feast of the Soul” included performances of the following artists: Kim Nazaretov’s Big Band, Conductor Andrew Machnev. Russian folk orchestra “Don”, Conductor Krikor Hurdayan. Soloists: Honored Artist of Russia Yevgeny Derbenko (Orel), Honored Artist of Russia Vasiliy Pianov (Moscow), Honored Artist of Ukraine Volodymyr Mirza, winner of international competitions Alexander Poeluev (Rostov-on-Don), winner of international competitions Paul Ukhanov (Moscow). The festival audience also enjoyed theworld premiere – Leonardo Pressichi’s “Neapolitan fantasy” performed by Yuri Shishkin and the ensemble “Divo”.

Lev Lavrov won Grand Prix of the 4th international competition “Accordion Plus”(student of the Moscow Gnessin Music school, his teacher was People’s Artist of Russia, Professor Viatcheslav Semionov).

During the festival and competitions, music center “Harmony” arranges master classes, lectures of famous professors, exhibitions demonstrating rare instruments gathered by the Rostov region collectors, as well as modern accordions and bayans of the best Russian and foreign factories.
