In front of me is a recording: accordion duet, featuring well known South American and French tunes, played in their own way, without accompaniment.

While listening to them there is a such an impression that the two accordionists got together to play purely for themselves, for fun and enjoyment and somebody recorded it on the side without them even knowing it - that is how spontaneous their obvious enjoyment sounds. The fact that they play solo, without accompanying instruments creates that special feeling of intimacy: as if they are playing for you especially in the corner of some classy cafe.

They perform well known and popular tunes and themes, pretty in their simplicity. Jean-Pierre and Cherie play them with out excessive sentimentality, yet their performance carries the delicious weight of stirred memories and forgotten secrets.
