Here Angel Luis Castano performs
original pieces for the accordion written by Patrick Busseuil,
an internationally recognised composer who has received three
international prizes for his works and currently teaches classical
accordion and composition at the Ecole de Romans.
Angel Luis Castano is one of the leading Spanish
accordionists, educated in Paris and Copenhagen. Amongst his
achievements is having won the Coupe Mondiale
International Accordion Championship in 1990. Currently Angel
Luis is teaching classical accordion at the Conservatory at
Segovia.
After reviewing two of Angel Luis's CD's I
notice that he has clear inclination towards contemporary music.
I have no doubt that Patrick Busseuil is a very talented composer
and Angel Luis performs his music with a lot of spirit and creativity.
Angel Luis uses all the tone colours and timbre of his accordion
to full effect. His 'play' with sound effects and tone colours
is amazing, and it is clear that this is based on Angel Luis's
true knowledge and understanding of contemporary music.
