The Salzburg Accordion Orchestra was formed in 1975 under the leadership of Jacob Noordzij. Today the SAS consists of C, B, and A orchestras and the A-Ensemble with conductors Jacob Noordzij and Judith Deutsch-Cekan. Through the years and many national and international contacts, the musicians were able to gain playing experience, which then led them to success at various competitions as well as concert tours.

The orchestra sounds very light and listening to them is no doubt a very pleasant experience. They play a very popular repertoire, with tunes such as The Muppets Show Theme and Rhapsodia Andalusia, which makes it relaxing and easy to listen to. Technically they are quite well balanced and on time. However, although their tonal standard is quite high, their overall performance is perhaps not of world standard in other areas, but certainly is very enjoyable.
