Tatu Kantomaa was born in 1974
in Finland. His accordion tutors were Veiko Ahvenainen and V.
Kuzowlew. He has performed in many countries including USA, Japan,
Austria, Norway & Iceland.
This is one of the rare cases when you like
the CD very much immediately after first time listening to it!
I have to admit: I liked everything straight away: the choice
of the pieces and the way they were performed.
First thing I noticed was such a fineness
in the performing, such warmth, charm and carefulness. A total
absence of aggressiveness which was so pleasant to hear.
Tatu performs with warm, bright tone colours
which are very noticable and makes his performing even more
splendid. This excellent tone colour of his can be easily heard
in pieces such as Viki-Vaki, Nola, Odette, Blumen & Salzburg,
Ustaville.
In "Pustan Rakkautta" and "Voices of Spring",
Tatu shows a high degree of technical level while always being
in control of his tone, never taking it to the extreme. Typical
example for this is his presentation of Hungarian Rhapsody No.2.
The way he performed this was something new and makes for pleasurable
listening.
