The UMKC Accordion Orchestra of Missouri - Kansas City is a very well known accordion orchestra with world renowned reputation, under the direction of Joan Cochran Sommers.

The first thing I noticed and was impressed with was absolutely huge range of repertoire, including Liszt, Debussy and Bartok to Gershwin and H.Boll. The pieces were presented very professionally; you can hear very detailed work. The performances were precise, musical and spiritual. It is also very noticeable that they are a well balanced orchestra - listening to them you have that feeling on oneness.....

On occasions I believe they could perhaps use a bigger tonal range which would perhaps help to make a clearer difference between the different styles. There is no doubt that they are a highly professional accordion orchestra. This is an orchestra and recording which is surely worthwhile listening to.
