The
Accordionists and Teachers Guild,
Int'l. has released its first CD as a fundraiser for the many musical activities
sponsored by the organization. All the performers donated their recordings to
the ATG for this purpose. There is, of course, great variety in a recording such
as this, not only in the different styles of music but, also, in the instruments
used and the equipment used in recording them. Nevertheless, you will find much
of interest in the CD featuring many outstanding soloists, chamber groups, and
an accordion orchestra; in addition, you will hear both acoustic and MIDI accordions.
Anthony
Galla-Rini, one of the founding members of the ATG and the group's President Emeritus,
is now almost 101 years young; this solo performance comes from a now rare recording
made several years ago. It gives a fond glimpse of Galla-Rini as both performer
and arranger.
Even such a luminary as the great artist, Friedrich
Lips, donated a recording of his. The young generation is represented by the
winner of the 2002 Anthony Galla-Rini Competition for Classical Accordion, Lidia
Kaminska, who displays her great interest in all types of chamber music by this
duo with a flautist, Carmen Marin. In between you will find artists from several
points of the globe, quite well known but still eager to help the ATG in this
effort to raise funds for even more support of its educational endeavors.
The
CD has been received very well throughout the world; you will enjoy it. The
CD may be purchased on the Accordionists and Teachers Guild website: www.accordions.com/atg
or by contacting the current president of the ATG: Stas
Venglevski. The cost is US$17 inclusive of shipping and handling
