Here
is another recording by the "K"
Trio (their first CD entitled "K Trio" was reviewed
on January
28th, 2000)
Instantly recognizable by their
playing image! I believe it is quite flattering to any artist
to be recognized by its playing style, and in my opinion the "K
Trio has built its own quite distinguished musical "signature".
I recognize them by their typical "K Trio" sound, by
their repertoire (as they predominantly perform traditional accordion
entertainment as well as other genres), and by their performing
style which is musical, crisp and technically confident, polished
in details, inspired, well balanced and with obviously so much
love for what they are doing.
One of the most impressive things
about the "K" Trio to me, is the incredible ease with
which they play. The most demanding technical and musical moments
they play as they are no effort to them, and that is also an important
quality. I have heard artists and recordings that don't have that
performing ease and as a result the listener is all the time on
edge and tense.
The "K" Trio was founded
in 1995. As their teacher, mentor and brother, Michael Fernino
carefully groomed all three members of the "K" Trio
in the technical skills necessary for the art of ensemble performance
- instilling in them a love, understanding and appreciation for
music.
This recording is especially dear
to the "K" Trio in that it includes accordion masterpieces
from their childhood experiences, some new "finds",
and many pieces by composers close to their hearts.
The music selected for "Take
2 " encompasses light, entertaining novelties, some selections
of a more " classical' nature as well as contemporary works.
The "K" Trio is an excellent
ensemble, whom I listened to with the feeling "return
to the accordion nostalgia" - meant in the way of decent
accordion playing and traditional selection of the pieces. *****
