CD coverKaren writes about this recording: "Nine years ago I was fortunate enough to join the Mike Westbrook Orchestra. Although thrown in among a band of fantastic jazz musicians I found Mike incredibly supportive and was given space to explore what was at that time an unfamiliar idiom.

This experience led to working with Tim Garland whose demanding compositions made me aware of the accordion's potential.

Last year I finally decided that it was time to find my own voice. This collection of compositions is the result".

I understand that this is Karen's debut recording as an accordionist and as a composer. She writes compositions based mainly on jazz in contemporary and modern music language. Karen combines acoustic accordion with acoustic guitar, flute & soprano saxophone, creating some pleasant and warm musical colours. As a tribute to Astor Piazzolla, Karen wrote a piece "I Dance For You" - talented work performed with profound sensitivity and maturity.

This is an interesting and talented recording, I will be waiting for the next one. ****
