The name of brilliant Russian accordionist
Yuri Shishkin is well known in accordion circles around the world.
Born in 1963, Yuri studied accordion
at the Rostov Conservatory and Moscow's Russian Academy of Music
with Professor Viatcheslav
Semionov. Yuri is a laureate of the most prestigious international
accordion competitions: Klingenthal
(1988), Kansas City (1990) and Castelfidardo
(1991).
Yuri's concert career is extensive.
As well as performing locally in Russia, he has also performed
in Belgium, Germany, Finland, Sweden, USA, Canada and China. The
premiere of his new program takes place annually in Holland where
he also delivers lectures and master-classes.
It is not easy to put into words,
my impression of Yuri's performance after hearing it. You find
yourself totally consumed into Yuri's world of music and his performance.
He is a musician and an artist in the highest meaning of the word.
Yuri presents a selection of pieces
by Romantic composers Brahms, Moszkowski, Mendelssohn, etc., transcribed
for the accordion and correspondingly names his CD: "Romantic
Bayan".
Yuri's virtuosity, his brilliant,
breathtaking technical skills are only a component of his artistic
image. He also has a tremendously refined musical taste and his
mature and profound understanding for musical styles shows the
passion of a young man clearly distinguished in his performance.
These combined elements create a fantastic musical and artistic
image, of which I cannot speak highly enough.
Brilliant performance!
