|In 2009, Grayson Masefield became the first person to win the Coupe Mondiale top classical category and the Coupe Mondiale Virtuoso Entertainment category in the same year.
In 2009 he also won the Roland International V-Accordion Competition & Festival, Rome and the Primus Ikaalinen International TV Competition, Finland, showing his amazing musical versatility.
September 2010 Grayson won the Trophée Mondial Classique World Accordion Championships and retired from competitions.
At the 2010 Coupe Mondiale, Varaždin, Croatia, Grayson was elected to the prestigious CIA Music Committee and remains a member of the CIA Music Committee today. He also made a major USA Tour in 2010.
Grayson Masefield was born in Auckland, New Zealand on the 10th September 1987 to accordion playing parents Ian and Heather Masefield.
His musical career began at 3 years of age with Fay Schaw, then developed into the entertainment field with Maurice Jones. He played in the North Shore Accordion Orchestras.
Grayson began classical training at Auckland University with Stephanie Poole. Grayson went to France for seminars and tuition with Frédéric Deschamps in 2007.
He is currently studying at the HEMU (University of Music Lausanne), tutor Prof. Stéphane Chapuis and has passed his BA majoring in accordion in 2015 and his Master of Arts HES-SO in Music, in June 2017. Qualifications
Grayson has been invited to perform in many countries including France, Spain, Germany, UK, Portugal, Slovakia, Italy, USA, Canada, Russia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Portugal, China, Switzerland, Austria, New Zealand, Australia, Finland.

Prior to HEMU, Grayson had been studying in France with Frederic Deschamps, just outside of Paris, where he was working with several of the world's leading composers such as Frank Angelis (France), Gorka Hermosa (Spain), Petri Makkonen (Finland) and Gary Daverne (New Zealand) to perform and record new original works for the accordion.
Grayson gained his Accordion Performers Diploma of New Zealand in February 2012.
2012 sees Grayson being invited to adjudicate and/or appear as Guest Artist at Competitions he has previously won, CIA in Italy, CMA in USA, Primus Ikalinenin in Finland and Roland International in Rome.
Grayson Masefield was the Director of World Accordion Day Livestreaming. This was a 24 hour Video streaming on 6th May 2012, watched by over 20,000 viewers.
