Renowned performer and teacher, Professor Alexander Dmitriev celebrates the dawn of the new century with concerts in Finland and Norway. The concerts took place from January 20 - 26, 2001 in Kuopio, Finland. The final concert was held on January 26th in Joinsuu. The concerts in Oslo, Norway will be held in early February when Alexander Dmitriev will also present a master-class at the Music School of Oslo. His program will include a variety of works by Boelmann, Liszt, Solotariov, Vivaldi, Gridin, Strauss-Jashkevitch and Panitski. A new project by the "PRO ARTE" institute; which features a recently organized group called "eNsemble", led by composer and member of Composers Union Boris Filanowski, is an important step in the promotion of contemporary music in St. Petersburg and other Baltic countries. Manager of the "eNsemble" is Irina Leskovskaya, a musicologist who is especially devoted to the music of the Netherlands The group consists of variety of string, wood, electroacoustic instrument performers, featuring the accordionist Sergej Tchirkov. The "eNsemble" claims all the new approaches to different music genres and forms, and is created to prove that everyone is able to perceive new music. The first concert this season took place at the Institute "Pro Arte", which is situated on the Zayachiy Island in the center of St. Petersburg. Accordion Festival in Volgograd

An Accordion Festival was held from 8 - 12 January, in Volgograd, Russia at which solo recitals were given by Alexander Sevastjan (student of Friedrich Lips), Alexander Pojeluev (student of V.Semionov) and Honored Artist of Russia Juriy Shishkin. Their program included music by S. Berinski, F. Mendelsohn, A. Kusiakov, V.Semionov, F. Liszt, D. Matsayev. Accordion at Radio "Liberty"

Radio "Liberty" broadcasted the performance of John Palmer's accordion work "Drang" recently. The broadcast was dedicated to international festival of new music "Sound Ways" and included also short interviews with Professor John Palmer (composer) and performer Sergej Tchirkov. Sergei Voittenko and "Non Stop" quartet in New Year concerts
