Junior Classical Category Music Requirements

Maximum Age: 18 years in the year of the Competition
1st Round : The candidates must perform in the order of their choice:
- A Baroque work of their choice
- A Melodic work of their choice
- A Virtuostic work of their choice
Note :
- At least one of the parts melody or virtuosity must be original for accordion
- Duration of programme: 20 min
- Each 3 pieces will be marked individually by each member of the jury
- The order of interpretation of the 3 parts of the programme is the choice of the candidate
2nd Round : Free Programme between 15mins and 20mins
Note: The programme must contain at least one original work for accordion.
NOTE : In both classical categories the jury will decide the number of candidates admitted to the next round.

Senior Classical Category Music Requirements

- At least one of the parts melody or virtuosity must be original for accordion
- Duration of programme t:: 20 min
- Each 3 pieces will be marked individually by each member of the jury
- The order of interpretation of the 3 parts of the programme is the choice of the candidate
2nd Round : Each candidate must interpret one complete original work for accordion. duration:
between 15 and 30 minute
Note :
- Indicative timing – no penalties will be imposed
- In this programme , the candidate will have to play a complete original work for accordion
3rd Round : A Free Programme of 20 mins min and 30 mins Max which must contain at least one
piece original for the accordion and one polyphonic work.
Remarque :
- The polyphonic work can be either a transcription, or an original work for accordion

Evening Concert

Paolo D’Ascanio Quartet

Paolo D'Ascanio was born in Capistrello, Italy, where he began studying accordion and piano and then went to the Conservatory "Alfredo Casella." He studied for six years specializing in composition. He graduated in piano at the Conservatory "Luigi and Giuseppe Malerbi" of Ravenna.

He has won various national and international competitions for accordion and piano. Between 1987 and 1995 worked as an accordionist on a tour with major Italian artists. He plays with the teacher and friend Gervasio Marcosignori and worked as a music supervisor with Beppe D'Onghia (director and arranger of Lucio Dalla).

Currently presented in solo concert, trio, quartet and quintet including working with many famous names in the Jazz field. His passion for music and interest in youth have led him, with other teachers, to found the Academy "La Fenice".
