At 16:00 hours, a very successful Congress of the restructured Confédération
Mondiale de L'Accordéon - CMA was held. Nations represented included:
Russia, Serbia, United Kingdom, Italy, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, New
Zealand, Bosnia and Herzegovina and France.

Under the helm of CMA President Frédéric Deschamps, a
number of important issues were discussed and agreed including the evolution
of delegations to the CMA Congress, the restructuring of the Junior
Classical category for 2007 onwards, the introduction of a DVD recording
of future events and methods of fund raising.
The CMA Congress was delighted to accept offers from Russia to host
the 57th CMA Trophée Mondiale in 2007 at the end of October /
first week in November. For 2008, The Academy of Music, Eastern Sarajevo,
Republic of Srpska - Bosnia and Herzegovina have offered to host the
58th CMA Trophée Mondiale in the first week of October 2008.
Future plans are for the festival to be in Croatia in 2009 and France
in 2010. The next CMA Intermediate Congress will be in held in late
February 2007 in France. In closing the Congress, Frédéric
Deschamps paid particular tribute to Milan Tomic (Serbia) for organising
in such a short time the very successful, friendly and enjoyable 56th
Trophée Mondiale.
At 20:30 hours, a concert was combined with the presentation of the
diplomas to contestants and prizes to the winners of each class. Ala
Kac, the jury member from Russia, presented the winners of all four
classes with the opportunity to travel to Russia to be guest artists
at the festival next year to celebrate 100 Years of Bayan in Russia.
