Daily Event Report - Friday 6th October
 
Competitions began at 11am with the first round of the Senior Variety Category. Contestants were required to perform a 7 minute own choice program. There were nine contestants, 8 from France and 1 from New Zealand, taking part.
Jury members were:

Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi (Italy), Anibal Freire (Portugal), Raymond Bodell (UK), Heather Masefield, (New Zealand), Nada Vjestica (Bosnia & Herzogovinia), Ala Kac (Russia) Marian Krajna (Croatia).

The draw for the playing order for the Senior and Junior Variete and the Senior and Junior Classic was done on the stage by the organiser Milan Tomic.

In the afternoon at 15:00 the Junior Variety first round took place with the same program as the Seniors. There were 11 contestants from France, Bulgaria and Portugal.

At 17:00 the Junior Classical played the second round where the 7 contestants performed. They had to play a free programme of maximum 15 minutes which had to contain a piece from the Baroque area. Pictures of the contestants are on the Daily Report Thursday 5th October.
The 20:30 concert in the Sala Gimnazije featured a superb accordionist, Danil Stadnyuk (Russia). He arrived from Moscow a few hours before the performance and was still able to perform faultlessly, a dynamic program including the Don Rhapsody by Semionov, Homage to Pizzaola by Zubitsky, Tornado by H. Kusyakov, Gokozak at the Dunay River by V. Gridin and Prophetic Dreams by Semionov. The enthusiastic audience applauded and applauded, giving the soloist 3 curtain calls.
