The Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes
(CIA) is pleased to welcome you to World Accordion Day.
The next event is scheduled on May 6th, 2014, featuring a 24 hour round the world broadcast televised on the Internet live from the CIA headquarters in Ikaalinen, Finland hosted by Grayson Masefield and Frederic Deschamps, assisted by members of the CIA Executive Committee. For the past five years on May 6th the CIA has been promoting
World Accordion day.
This year, for the second time, the CIA held a live streaming 24 Hour
show in celebration
of the accordion, travelling across the globe as the time zones
elapse around the world (beginning in NZ +12GMT then travelling
west across the world through Asia and Europe finishing in the
Americas -8GMT). Last year was extremely successful with over
45 countries participating with over 310,365 minutes viewed with
viewers from over 87 countries.
The event was hosted in France by Frederic Deschamps and Grayson Masefield,
directed by Mike Rossi.
World Accordion Day held on 6th May 2009, marked the 180th birthday
of the accordion. Please join us for this annual celebration,
as accordionists from around the world pay homage to our wonderful
instrument. This global event will serve as an exciting means
of bringing us together in our efforts to promote and elevate
the awareness and status of the accordion!
