Daily Report - 1st May

Yesterday and today, are the arrival dates for the overseas guests, competition and festival officials and competitors with 28 competitors from outside China and over 500 competitors participating.

VIP Guest Kevin Friedrich (CIA President) and myself, Harley Jones, were greeted at the airport with a lovely bouquet of flowers, a sign of welcome and a friendly smile from Cindy Xia Jun, one of many volunteer assistants helping the event to run smoothly.

On the way to the hotel, we saw an array of drop down flags advertising the event. Picture above.

Upon arrival at the very nice International House For Education Hotel, we were met by Li Cong Organization Director and Crystal Wang, event Organising Committee Vice Director and Shanghai Normal University instructor (picture right - volunteer Cindy, Kevin Friedrich and Crystal Wang).

After a warm welcome, we were handed a registration bag which was filled with an array of beautifully presented gifts pictured below.

High quality program and beautiful event diary with excellent art work and logos.
Envelopes, badge with photo ID and

The flags of all the nations participating were on display.

The pack included a beautiful t-shirt design, here being modelled by a somewhat shy event volunteer!

Many had arrived by lunch time - here a photo of many famous accordionists enjoying a toast at lunch.
