Entry Information and Application

Regulations for Harbin China Summer International Accordion Art Week in 2010

I. Grouping of Contest

1. Group A for Children below 9 years old (born after August 20, 2001).
Group B for Children below 12 years old (born from August 19, 1998 to August 19, 2001).
2. Group for Juveniles of Traditional Bass 13-15 years old (born from August 20, 1995 to August 19, 1998).
3. Group for Juveniles of Free Bass 13-15 years old (born from August 20, 1995 to August 19, 1998).
4. Group for Youths of Traditional Bass 16-18 years old (born from August 20, 1992 to August 19, 1995).
5. Group for Youths of Free Bass 16-18 years old (born from August 20, 1992 to August 19, 1995).
6. Group of Traditional Bass (normal colleges, comprehensive universities, music education majors of art and music colleges)
7. Group of Free Bass (normal colleges, comprehensive universities, music education majors of art and music colleges)
8. Group for performers 18-35 years old (born from August 20, 1975 and August 19, 1992)
9. Group A for pop music below 15 years old (born after August 20, 1995), except electronic musical instruments.
10. Group B for pop music above 15 years old (born before August 19, 1995), except electronic musical instruments.
11. Group A for trio below 15 years old (born after August 20, 1995), less than 4 players, excluding other musical instruments.
12. Group B for trio above 15 years old (born before August 19, 1995), less than 4 players, excluding other musical instruments.
13. Chamber music group, without age restriction, combination of accordion and other musical instruments, and the accordion shall be the main player (1 accordion and several other musical instruments are allowed).

II. Competition Music

1. Group A for Children
Preliminary: 1-2 pieces of optional music with length below 5 minutes, both Chinese and foreign music are accepted.
Final: 1-2 pieces of optional music different from the ones played on preliminary, with length below 5 minutes
Group B for Children
Preliminary: 1-2 pieces of optional music with length below 7 minutes, both Chinese and foreign music are accepted.
Final: 1-2 pieces of optional music different from the ones played on preliminary, with length below 5 minutes

2. Group for Traditional Bass of Juniors
Preliminary: 1-2 pieces of optional music with length below 8 minutes, 1 piece of Chinese music is required.
Final: 2 pieces of music different from the ones played in the preliminary are optional, with length below 8 minutes

3. Group for Free Bass of Juniors
Preliminary: 1. 1 piece of optional music,
2. 1 piece of Bach 2 invention or polyphony of equivalent degree, with length below 8 minutes.
Final: 1. Required Musics
2. 1 piece of music optional different from the one played on the preliminary, with length below 8 minutes.

4. Group for Youths of Traditional Bass
Preliminary: 1-2 pieces of music optional with length below 10 minutes.
Final: 1. Required Musics
2. 1 piece of music optional different from the one played on the preliminary, with length below 10 minutes.

5. Group for Youths of Free Bass
Preliminary: 1 piece of music optional, 1 piece of Bach 3 invention or polyphony of equivalent degree, with length below 10 minutes.
Final: 1. Required Musics
2. 1 piece of music optional different from the one played on the preliminary, with length below 15 minutes.

6. Group of Traditional Bass
Preliminary: 1-2 pieces of music optional with length below 10 minutes.
Final: 1. Required Musics
2. 1 piece of music optional different from the one played on the preliminary, with length below 15 minutes.

7. Group of Free Bass
Preliminary: 1. 1 piece of music optional
2. 1 piece of Bach 3 invention or polyphony of equivalent degree, with length below 10 minutes.
Final: 1. Required Musics
2. 1 piece of music optional different from the one played on the preliminary, with length below 15 minutes.

8. Group for Performers
Preliminary: 1. Bach law of average optional, or 1 piece of polyphony of equivalent degree.
2. 2-3 pieces of music optional, including 1 piece of strong technique, with length below 17 minutes.
Final: 1. Required Musics
2. 1-2 pieces of music of different styles optional with length of 15 minutes, including a large piece (sonata and suite, etc) different from the one played on the preliminary.

9. Group A of Pop Music
Only 1 round, 2 pieces of music optional, the free bass and traditional bass are accepted.
Popular accordion playing, electronic musical instruments are not allowed, with length below 8 minutes.

10. Group B of Pop Music
Only 1 round, 2-3 pieces of music optional, free bass, traditional bass and popular accordion playing are accepted, the electronic musical instruments are not allowed, with length below 10 minutes.

11. Group A of Trio
Only 1 round, a piece of music optional below 8 minutes.

12. Group B of Trio
Only 1 round, a piece of music optional below 10 minutes.

13. Chamber Music Group:
Music optional with length below 20 minutes, the combinations of music are not restricted, the electronic musical instruments are allowed, and the functions of accordion shall be highlighted in the combinations (1 accordion and several other musical instruments are required)
The length specified above refers to the playing length of pure music.

III. Prize and Bonus

4 prizes, gold, silvery, bronze and outstanding are set for each group, the trophies or certificates will be issued, the bonus for gold prize granted to the Group of Performers is USD 2000, the one for silver prize is USD 1000 and the one for bronze prize is USD 500.

IV. Application Fee

The application fee for Group of Children and Group of Juveniles is respectively RMB 200, and the one for Group of Youths, Group of Free Bass, Group of Traditional Bass, Group of Performers, Group of Pop Music and Group A of Trio is respectively RMB 300; and the one for Group B of Trio and Chamber Music Group is RMB 400.
The players could remit the application fee at the post office (please don’t put money into envelope of ordinary mail in case of loss), and please write the name and group of the player on the money order.

V. Application Time and Instructions

Application: Download the application form from www.hrbnu.edu.cn or www.accordions.com/china/index.shtml, fill out the application form and send to gjbs2010@126.com, and mail the printed form together with 2 pieces of 1-inch photos, 1 copy of the valid identity certificate (household register, ID card, or passport) to the Organizing Committee Office of 2010 China International Accordion Art Week
The mailing address is same as above.
Application Time: May 1-July 1, 2010.

VI. Instructions to Competition

1. The sequence of the contest will follow the lot drawing results.
2. The players of various groups shall play the music as specified from memory. Provided if the music are not in compliance with the requirements from the regulations, then the organizing committee is entitled to cancel the qualification of participating the contest.
3. The judge is entitled to stop the player if it’s beyond the length as specified, however, it will not influence the score. If the length of the music is too short (less than 2/3 of the length as specified), the score of the contest will be influenced.
4. The scores of various groups will be posted after each round of contest, to show the just.
5. The score of preliminary will be accumulated with the score of rematch. Both the preliminary and rematch respectively accounts for 50% of the score.
6. The judging panel consists of famous experts and professors home and abroad.
7. The winners are obligated to attend the prize awarding ceremony and the concert of winners, otherwise, the winnership will be automatically cancelled.
8. All players attending the finals will be awarded with honor certificates.

10. The players and accompanying attendants shall afford their costs of traveling and accommodation by themselves.

11. The organizing committee is entitled to adjust the setting of prizes to be granted to players according to the situation of application number and competition.
12. The regulations are subjected to the final interpretations from the organizing committee.
