In August 1993, the 1st Beijing International Accordion Festival was held in Beijing, China. This festival was jointly hosted by Ministry of Culture of the PRC and China Central Conservatory of Music, co-organized by Beijing Musicians Association, Accordion Society. Mr. Jiang Jie, as the director of the Accordion Standard Grade Examination of Central Conservatory of Music, worked as the executive president of this festival. This festival was highly praised and warmly welcomed by thousands of Chinese accordionists.

Later in 1998, Accordion Profession Board of Shanghai and Tianjin Musicians Association became co-organizers of Beijing International Accordion Festival. President Li Cong (of Shanghai), President Wang Shusheng (of Tianjin), President Yang Guoli (of Beijing), with their great accordion associations, made a huge contribution to the development of Beijing International Accordion Festival.

Until 2007, Beijing International Accordion Festival has been successfully held for 11 times. To a very large extent, this festival has not only left an impressive and profound impact on Chinese accordion education but also has influentially promoted the development of Chinese accordion industry.

Due to some irresistible factors, Beijing International Accordion Festival interrupted after 2007, but the brilliant memory remains. In order to conform to current trend of international accordion development and also for better facilitating keyboard accordion education in China, this year, the Organizing Committee of Beijing International Accordion Festival decides to hold the 1st Beijing International Piano Accordion Competition.

This competition, as a new start for Beijing International Accordion Festival, will continue its honorable tradition. Besides, more innovative contents will be added. We sincerely hope this competition will become your distinct platform where you can show your professional (virtuoso) techniques and also bring you more unforgettable industrial-related experiences!
