ATG Coupe Mondiale Qualifications
Alicia Baker - Winner of Video Qualifications

Alicia BakerDue to the timeframe of the ATG being quite near the Coupe Mondiale Festival, this year the ATG Coupe Mondiale qualifications were held via Video selection prior to the ATG Festival. The ATG is delighted to announce that Alicia Baker has been selected to represent the ATG in both the:

  • International Competition for Virtuoso Entertainment Music
  • International Competitoin for Digital Accordion

Alicia Baker is a 21 year old self-professed music fanatic from Milwaukie, Oregon. She has been playing the accordion since the age of 6, as well as studying piano and voice. Alicia currently attends Oregon State University, where she is in her Junior year as a triple music major, working toward degrees in music education, piano performance, and vocal performance.

We invite you to follow along with Livestreaming of the Coupe Mondiale in Victoria, during the timeframe of the festival from the 17th August - 25 August, 2013. The link to the CIA sponsored Livestream will made available at the time of the festival at the CIA Coupe Mondiale website www.coupemondiale.org.

All American Salute - New in 2013
Any two original solos by any two American accordionist composers such as: Frosini, Gart, Magnante, Galla-Rini, Deiro; Marocco; Fremar; Schimmel etc...
  • a. Two pieces must be selected with different style or character.
  • b. Ages (professional or student) in three age divisions
    1) Under 18 years as of July 18, 2013
    2) 18 years and older as of July 18, 2013
    3) 32 years and older as of July 18, 2013
  • c. Music is allowed; however, in case of tie, entrant playing by memory will receive 5 extra points
  • d. Trophies will be awarded in each age division
  • e. $200.00 USD to First Place winner in each age division
  • f. USD $45.00 Entry Fee in age division
Tango Times Two - New in 2013
Any two original or arranged Tango solos by Piazzolla, Galliano, or traditional composers of tango music such as Rodriguez, Gardel, Troilo, Pugliesi, Villoldo, etc..
  • a. Two pieces must be selected with different style or character.
  • b. Age (professional or student) in three age divisions
    1) Under 18 as of July 18, 2013
    2) 18 years and older as of July 18, 2013
    3) 32 years and older as of July 18, 2013
  • c. Music is allowed; however, in case of tie, entrant playing by memory will
    receive 5 extra points as a means of determining absolute winner.
  • d. Trophies will be awarded in each age division
  • e. $200.00 USD to First Place winner in each age division
  • f. USD $45.00 Entry Fee in age division
Accordion Plus One - New in 2013
Accordion with any other instrument as a DUO. Note: accordion part must be dominant or equal to the other instrument.
  • a. Age category will be based on the age of the older member in the duo.
  • b. Student performing with a teacher or other professional will be allowed, but will
    be judged in specified category.
  • c. Categories for adults, teachers, amateur or professional, will be allowed, but will be judged in specified category.
  • d. Music is free-choice; two pieces of different style or character.
  • e. Music is allowed.
  • f. Trophies will be awarded to each member of the duo.
  • g. USD $25.00 Entry Fee
Accordion(s) & More! - New in 2013
Accordion or multiple accordions with other instruments or voice Note: accordion(s) must be dominant or equal to the other instruments or voice.
  • a. Age category will be based on the age of the oldest member in the group.
  • b. Students performing with a teacher or other professionals will be allowed, but will
    be judged in specified category.
  • c. Music is free choice; two pieces of different style or character.
  • d. Music is allowed; with or without a conductor.
  • e. Trophy will be awarded to the Group; individual trophies may be purchased.
  • f. USD $ 40.00 (Ensembles: 3-7 members) USD $ 60.00 (Orchestras: 8 or more members)
Entertainment Showcase! - New in 2013
Ensembles with any instrumentation, featuring entertainment music.
  • a. May use any number of other instruments or voices, but must include and feature at least one accordion.
  • b. No age restrictions.
  • c. Music is free-choice; two entertainment pieces of different style or character
  • d. Music is allowed; with or without a conductor.
  • e. Trophy will be award to the Group; individual trophies may be purchased.
  • f. USD $ 40.00 (Ensembles: 3-7 members) USD $ 60.00 (Orchestras: 8 or more members)
US Championship (Senior and Junior)

Designed for the outstanding players who love competition and may be planning to enter future Coupe Mondiale categories. Contestants may perform their own choice of music but must perform at least 3 pieces.

General Information: Music must be performed by memory. The time limits are: minimum of 15 and a maximum of 18 minutes. Entrant maybe penalized if playing under or over the limits.

Rules for this special competition are:

  • 1. One piece must show proficiency in use of the left hand free bass.
  • 2. One piece must be originally composed for the accordion.
  • 3. One piece must show technical virtuoso abilities.
  • 4. The age limit for the Junior category is 18 as of July 20, 2013
        The age limit for the Senior category is 32 as of July 20, 2013
  • 5. Entrant may be of any nationality since it is not a qualifying category
        for the Coupe Mondiale representing the United States.
  • 6. Entry Fee: USD $45.00

Prizes to be awarded in both Junior and Senior categories are:

  • 1. The First Place winner will be awarded $200.00 plus a trophy and a certificate.
  • 2. The Second Place winner will be awarded $100.00 plus a trophy and a certificate.
