Elizabeth Jones was born in 1972 in Sydney, Australia and began her studies on the accordion at the age of five, first with Else Brandman and from 1990 with Margaret Brandman - Blake. After completing a Bachelor of Music degree at Sydney University in 1992, she joined the Advanced Postgraduate Course at the Royal Academy of Music in London where she studied accordion with Professor Owen Murray until the end of 1995 and piano with Antoinetta Notariello until the end of 1996. Elizabeth is currently continuing her studies at the University of Western Sydney where she is researching the pedagogical and performance styles of the accordion for her Doctorate of Creative Arts.

Among her many prizes, Elizabeth Jones has been both the Australian and Australasian Champion with the free bass accordion on numerous occasions between 1982 to 1992. In 1997 Elizabeth formed the duo Voxion with singer Mina Kanaridis. Together they made the finals of the 2MBSFM Young Performers Award held in 1998.

Her concert performances have taken her to London, Hong Kong, China, New Zealand and throughout Australia, where she has performed as guest artist and recitalist at major venues. In 1999 Elizabeth performed with Opera Australia in their winter season production of Wozzeck and also performed with Cockatours Productions in their season of Fiddler on the Roof at the Hills Centre. During 1999 she was also a regular performer at special services at the Garrison Church and also performed with the NSW State Police Band. She has given numerous broadcasts for the ABC and 2MBSFM, as well as featuring on recordings. During 2000 Elizabeth has performed at the Garrison Church, the Wollongong Art Gallery and was featured on Win News, Wollongong. Elizabeth has collaborated with many composers based in Sydney to promote the accordion as a concert instrument. The composers include Eric Gross, Margaret Brandman - Blake, Ko-Ting Sung, Terumi Narashumi, and Andrew McBirnie (U.K.) Her most recent premieres were "And The Sun Danced On Easter Morn' " an intermezzo for accordion and organ and "Tanghetto con Bandoneon" for accordion and mandolins by Eric Gross.

She has lectured frequently for the Australian Music Examination Board and the Accordion Society of Australia, and in 1992 was invited by the composer Peter Sculthorpe to give a workshop on composing for the accordion. She has also recorded pedagogical material for the AMEB.

In November 2000, Elizabeth was awarded the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust scholarship for further overseas study.

Elizabeth has released her first CD recording ANIMI CAUSA. The CD is a collection of transcriptions for the accordion dating from the 16th Century tothe 20th Century.
