VENUE and ACCOMODATION

The location of the venue for this year festival is in:
Fairfield, a suburb of Melbourne Victoria. The Gala Concert will be held in Ivanhoe.

Fairfield is located minutes from the city of Melbourne close to two major freeways and is regarded as the gateway to points North and East. Although only a short distance from the city Fairfield is close to the Yarra river so parklands, public boathouses and restaurants are only a "stone's throw" away. The tourist precincts of Brunswick St. Fitzroy and Lygon St. Carlton are near neighbours.
Fairfield is part of a large municipality, the City of Darebin . In fact, Darebin is home to one of the largest most diverse communities anywhere in Victoria. The physical character of Darebin differs significantly; from the inner city suburbs of Alphington, Fairfield, Northcote and Westgarth through the established areas of Thornbury and Preston, out to the relatively new areas of Reservoir and the Bundoora North East Growth Corridor.
Bordered by the Darebin and Merri Creeks, the City of Darebin contains a diverse range of open spaces, ranging from small, local parks up to major regional parklands such as the All Nations Park in Northcote and Bundoora Park in Bundoora. Added to this are environmentally sensitive areas such as the Central Creek Grasslands, the Wildlife reserve at La Trobe University and the Leamington Street Wetlands.
