Finale Concert

Welcome by NZAA President Sonja Palinich and introduction of concert compere Stephen Cope.

A minutes silence to remember NZAA Life Member Meg Fidler, conductor of the Christchurch Accordion Orchestra for many years, past President and Patron of the Canterbury Accordion Association.
2022 South Pacific Massed Accordion Orchestra performing Swingin' Safari composed by Bert Kaempfert, conducted by Heather Masefield. This piece was used at the start of every concert on the international concert tours by the New Zealand Accordion Orchestra and Air New Zealand Accordion Orchestra, conducted by Fay-Ellen Schaw. Tours went to Europe, USA, Canada, China, Asia and became their signature tune. Swingin' Safari is being performed today to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the North Shore Accordion Orchestra Inc. the official organisation of the touring orchestras.
On nearly every international tour, well known composer, arranger and conductor Gary Daverne conducted one of his compositions for the audience, many times to standing ovations. Today, NZAA Life Member Gary Daverne conducts his own composition Silver Fern March.
South Auckland teacher and entertainer Lorraine Parnell performed some famous melodies for the audience.

Reina Lin performs 9 Blind Mice by Palmer/Hughes
Andre Samotoi performs Andalucia by Ernesto Lecuona
Grayson Masefield Tango for Claude by Richard Galliano
North Shore 50th Anniversary Orchestra performs A Whiter Shade of Pale composed by Procol Harum,
conducted by Lian Jones.
North Shore 50th Anniversary Orchestra performs Beatles Medley, arranged by Gary Daverne and used for numerous concerts both in New Zealand and internationally, conducted by Heather Masefield. The afternoon concluded with a big thank you to Heather Masefield for all her work in organising the orchestras reunion players and music and conductors.
Compere Stephen Cope also thanked the audience for attending.
