The weather was a perfect clear crystal blue sky Sydney
morning as accordionists came to the magnificent Club Marconi for the
2009 Australian International Accordion Championships and Festival.
Morning setup included the trophy table which looked quite splendid.

Prizegiving was the last part of the Saturday morning
session. A popular duo Jessica and Marina Jin receiving their awards.

Kelvin Luu won 1st place for the International 12
years and under Australian International competition.

Zhiyuan Ma and Richard She received a popular win
too for their duet performance.
|
After the prize-giving, AATA Vice-President Ivan
Liashenko made a demonstration of the Roland FR-7 V-Accordion.
|
The demonstration of the Roland FR-7 V-Accordion
captured the interest of many accordionists present who were eager
to learn more about these new instruments and what they are capable
of. The demonstration included the construction and design of the
instrument, how the array of sounds are made, and brief demonstrations
of many of the different types of sounds.

and beauty to the obvious enjoyment of the audience. Mia and Nemanja
Drazic were the two competitors in the top Australian International
solo category.

Nemanja Drazic (Serbia) combined power and personality
for a performance enjoyed greatly by the audience. The jury report
to the audience said that the competition between the two contestants
was extremely close, the jury divided, with Nemanja narrowly ahead
on points. A very close competition by two internationally successful
performers that was enjoyed greatly by the most appreciative audience.
