2006 AUSTRALIAN INTERNATIONAL ACCORDION CHAMPIONSHIPS AND FESTIVAL

Sunday started off with the Morning Masterclasses, the first time Masterclasses has been a part of the AATA Festival. New Zealand accordion champion Campbell Hill playing for the masterclass.   Alexander Shirunov observing Campbell Hill.

After lunch, was the AATA Gala Concert and Trophy Presentation. Opening the Gala Concert is the MC, well known Sydney accordion entertainer Enzo Giribaldi.   Starting off the concert was the Ace Ensemble, (left to right): Catherine Day, Ann_Elise Koerntjes, Domenico Baudille, Vincenzo Fuda, Benjamin Pattinson.
 
Presentation to Cathy Day of the AATA Merit Award to the ACE Ensemble and their musical director Cathy Day for their musical achievements and their contribution to the advancement of the accordion in Australia.   Cathy Day thank you speech with Enzo Giribaldi enjoying the moment.

Marjan Krajna (Croatia) well known teacher and performer, was a real crowd favourite with his entertainment music, which had the crowd yelling out, More! More! More!   Tania presenting the trophy to Lina Chegodaev for 1st place in the International Accordion Championship class.

Coupe Mondiale Piano Accordion World Champion Alexander Shirunov (Russia) put on a stunning performance for the crowd.   Dynamic movement and a real variety of music is a hallmark of Alexander Shirunov.
 
The ending of a great performance and another standing ovation from the very excited audience.   The second standing ovation for Alexander Shirunov.
