Has Pneumonia, Alexander Poeluev Tours Last October, Evgeny Kochetov won the Coupe Mondiale International Piano Accordion class in Pontarlier, France. Part of his prize was a concert tour to Australia and New Zealand to be the guest artist at the Australian International Championships in Sydney (28, 29 May) and the South Pacific Accordion Championships in Auckland (3 to 5 June). Just as Evgeny was due to depart, he had the great misfortune to become ill with pneumonia. This was little more than a week after he had won second place at the Klingenthal International Accordion Competition. The tour sponsors approached the second place getter of the Coupe Mondiale International Piano Accordion class, Nenad Ercogovcevic of Serbia to see if he was available, but he was competing and on tour in France. Alexander Poeluev
has made himself available for the tour. In 2002 Alexander became the
first contestant to ever win two categories in the same year - the "Coupe
Mondiale World Accordion Championships" and "International
Competition for Piano Accordion". |
